Jim was like a little brother to Semiramis and, following this, Mrs. Main, Brett and Madeline decided to give the Mont Royal slaves their freedom.

Brett gave all the slaves leave to go and barely a handful of ex-slaves chose to stay. Orry told Caleb that Mont Royal was his home, and he replied, "No sir it's not my home."

While gone AWOL, Billy was taking a nap when out of nowhere a Confederate deserter pointed a gun at him. After sliding his gun over, the man asked for his boots. Billy tossed his boots so quick and sudden like, that he got the jump on him and in the struggle Robert Englund's character was shot dead.
