Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which slave did Salem Jones bring back dead?

Answer: Jim

Jim was like a little brother to Semiramis and, following this, Mrs. Main, Brett and Madeline decided to give the Mont Royal slaves their freedom.
2. On his way to Mont Royal, which ex-Mont Royal slave did Orry run into?

Answer: Caleb

Brett gave all the slaves leave to go and barely a handful of ex-slaves chose to stay. Orry told Caleb that Mont Royal was his home, and he replied, "No sir it's not my home."
3. What horror movie star made a cameo appearance in episode three?

Answer: Robert Englund

While gone AWOL, Billy was taking a nap when out of nowhere a Confederate deserter pointed a gun at him. After sliding his gun over, the man asked for his boots. Billy tossed his boots so quick and sudden like, that he got the jump on him and in the struggle Robert Englund's character was shot dead.
4. According to Lincoln, when were the slaves freed?

Answer: January 1, 1863

Lincoln's cabinet of men stood or sat in silence as President Lincoln read The Emancipation Proclamation. General George Hazard was also present at the reading of The Emancipation Proclamation.
5. According to Billy, how long had it been since he saw Brett?

Answer: 2 years

George was visiting Billy at his camp and was going on and on about Constance and Hope. Billy snapped out, "George I haven't seen Brett in two years!"
6. Who called the victory at Gettysburg "hollow"?

Answer: President Lincoln

Lincoln said, "Nothing he could say or do could make General Meade move." Although the Union won the battle and many died on both sides, the victory did seem hollow.
7. Who told Madeline what her mother was?

Answer: Ashton Huntoon

Ashton was all too pleased to tell Madeline that not only did she know that Madeline was part black but that Madeline's mother sold herself for money. Thanks in part to being mistress to Elkanah Bent and seeing the portrait of Madeline's mother, she was too proud to tell her it would be a scandal on the family if anyone knew.
8. Who told Brett that Billy was there?

Answer: Semiramis

Mrs. Main, Brett and Ashton were talking about Madeline leaving suddenly when Semiramis pardoned her intrusion and asked Brett to come and show her the seed corn.
9. Who caught Brett and Billy at the dock?

Answer: Ashton

She had a smirk on her face like she could use this to her advantage but little she know it was going to backfire.
10. How did Brett keep Ashton at bay until Billy left?

Answer: Pitchfork

She knew she tried to have Billy killed, calling her a miserable, frustrated woman. Of course Ashton didn't think Brett would actually use the pitchfork but Brett was determined to have her never interfere with her or her husband again.
