Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening scene, set in China, what type of crime was busted?

Answer: Drug sale

Agent Lee busted a narcotic smuggling ring. That bust set the events of the pilot in motion. It caused a fight between himself and his sister and pushed them into a scene in Los Angeles.
Lee was played by John Foo.
2. Det. Carter was introduced busting a crime. What type of crime was he stopping?

Answer: Gun sales

He was undercover buying guns from the criminals when some patrol officers arrived. He ended up chasing one of the crooks to a helicopter, which eventually crashed into the house of a city council woman.
Carter was played by Justin Hires.
3. What was Lee's sister, Kim, escorting to Los Angeles?

Answer: Statues

After fighting with her brother about not getting assignments with the police department because he thought of her as a little girl, she was assigned to the escort team. She didn't want that assignment either, but he insisted because the Terra Cotta statues had historical significance.
4. What was the airport security guard's name?

Answer: Dickie

Dickie was the only American person involved in the robbery who wasn't killed immediately. The gangsters killed the man they bought fake cop cars from, and most of the escorting officers. Dickie was killed while he was being interrogated by Carter and Lee. Initially Dickie was simply beaten and shoved in the trunk of a car.
5. Did the Hong Kong gang kill Lee's sister?

Answer: No

She was the only one of the Chinese officers not killed. It was later revealed that she was working with the gangsters. Lee insisted that his sister needed to go to jail because of her betrayal, though she ended up not getting arrested.
6. Which fellow officer had Carter had a romantic fling with?

Answer: Didi

Didi Diaz was a former beat cop who had dated Carter prior to the pilot episode. Their relationship hadn't worked out, but they remained friends. When her son was born, Carter got her moved to a desk job because she didn't want to work in the field, with it being more dangerous. Carter took the heat for having her transferred so that she didn't lose face with the other officers.
7. What was the biggest shock to Lee about working in America?

Answer: Having a female police captain.

Lee had no female superiors in Hong Kong. He adapted well enough to having a female superior, but he had a rough time at first. The other options were not issues in the pilot episode. Capt. Lyndsey Cole was the first superior he ever lied to.
8. Which of the officers claimed to have only been scared once in his life?

Answer: Lee

They had the fight over who was braver just before entering an abandoned mall where the Chinese gangsters had the stolen statues hidden. Carter kept insisting he was the braver of the two, but also admitted to being scared to go into the mall. Lee told him that he too had been scared once in his life, when he was a small child.
9. Carter and Lee were both shot.

Answer: True

Carter was shot in the leg, and ended up with six stitches. Lee was shot in the shoulder and the leg. Lee told Carter that "clearly" it was more painful to be shot once. That was a continuation on the earlier discussion of which of them was more brave.
10. Lee officially transferred to Los Angeles at the end of the episode. What was the first thing he did as a detective?

Answer: Went to arrest Carter's cousin.

When the duo had met up with Carter's cousin Gerald earlier in the episode, Lee promised to return and arrest him as soon as he was able. When he received his badge at the end of the episode, he told Carter he was going to arrest Gerald and walked out of the station. Carter followed him to try and stop him as the credits rolled.

By the time the second episode picked up, viewers learned that Gerald had not been arrested, yet.
