Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 1.1 "So Then a Bat or a Monkey"- In what profession were Joel and Sheila Hammond?

Answer: Real estate

In the premier episode, they were trying to sell the Peterson house. But, after Sheila became violently ill in the house, the owners fired them.

Drew Barrymore played Sheila and Timothy Olyphant played Joel.
2. 1.1 "So Then a Bat or a Monkey"- Joel and Sheila lived on a cul-de-sac between Dan and Rick, who worked what kind of jobs?

Answer: Law enforcement

Rick (actor Richard T. Jones) was a police offer for the Santa Monica P.D. Dan (actor Ricardo Chavira) was a sheriff for the L.A. Sheriff's Department. Dan heckled Rick on the lesser quality of his type of law enforcement, and Rick responded that his force was to "protect and serve and not frame and maim".
3. 1.1 "So Then a Bat or a Monkey"- Gary brought Sheila flowers after her bout with illness.

Answer: True

Gary (actor Nathan Fillion) was the newest real estate agent at the firm Sheila and Joel worked. He was a swarmy tool, who used Sheila's "illness" to swipe the Peterson house out from under the Hammonds. Sheila's "illness" was one of epic proportion and Gary had cleaners come handle her mess.
4. 1.1 "So Then a Bat or a Monkey"- What did Abby Hammond want from her parents?

Answer: Car

In her first scene, teenager Abby Hammond (actress Liv Hewson) asked her parents for a car because they lived so far from everything. She said she'd even settle for her mom's car, and mom Sheila could get the Range Rover she wanted. Joel said no to the car, but Sheila did end up giving into her desire for the Range Rover.
5. 1.1 "So Then a Bat or a Monkey"- Who explained to the Hammonds that Sheila was most likely a zombie?

Answer: Eric

Eric Beemis, son to Lisa and step-son to sheriff Dan Palmer, had a crush on Abby Hammond. When Sheila became interested in her lack of a heartbeat and craving for raw meat, Abby suggested that the "creeper" Eric may have the answers. He did, and told them Sheila was both "dead and undead", and therefore a zombie. His only suggestion as to a possible "how" was maybe a virus contracted from a bat or monkey, hence the episode title. Eric also said that zombies are fueled by the "Id" portion of a personality, making it hard to resist their desires.

The episode ended with Sheila being sexually harassed by Gary, whose actions inspired her to eat him.
6. 1.2 "We Can't Kill People!"- Who discovered Joel and Abby burying a body out in the desert?

Answer: Abby and Eric

They used a tracking app on the phone to find the location where Abby's parents were burying Gary's body. Eric was helpful in the burial and said that one should never linger at a crime scene.

Skyler Gisondo played Eric.
7. 1.2 "We Can't Kill People!"- After eating a person, Sheila was unable to consume other animals.

Answer: True

The first thing we saw her eat was raw hamburger, in the pilot episode. But after eating Gary, other raw animals were not working.
8. 1.2 "We Can't Kill People!"- When Abby decided to ditch school, she and Eric went where?

Answer: Comic book store

She encountered him in the school hall on her way out, and he introduced her to his science project, King Robot Baratheon. I assume that is an homage to Robert Baratheon from "Game of Thrones". They decided to skip school together and went to a comic book store. At the store, Abby found a comic that reflected her own life called "Mombie", about a mom zombie. The store clerk became irritated with the kids and Abby ended up sending him to the floor. She just didn't feel like following the rules that day.

John Gemberling played Bunchen, the comic store clerk. He was also in the TV series "Broad City".
9. 1.2 "We Can't Kill People!"- Sheila: "This place is creepy." What was Joel's response?

Answer: "Yeah, well, so are we."

They were at the morgue looking for a dead human for Sheila to try and eat. Joel had to pay the attendant $500 and a Starbucks card for just a foot. He wanted $5,000 for an entire body. Sheila was unable to consume the dead foot and said it tasted like chemicals.
10. 1.2 "We Can't Kill People!"- According to Joel, how long had they been "Joel and Sheila"?

Answer: Since high school

He told her they'd been "Joel and Sheila" since high school, so he would help her kill people to eat.
