Johnny Crawford played Mark McCain. Johnny Crawford received an Emmy nomination for his role of Mark McCain. He was also an original Mouseketeer. Johnny Crawford appeared in over 250 TV episodes, and 15 movies. Johnny was a fine singer and signed a record deal with Del-Fi Records. He had five hit songs and four top forty albums in the 1960's.

Yes the great Sam Peckinpah directed early episodes of the "Rifleman." He also directed "The Wild Bunch", "Straw Dogs", "Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid" and the "Osterman Weekend."

Mark's teacher was Miss Adams. She was a great teacher and encouraged her students to explore creative interests. Miss Lou Mallory was the inn keeper, Miss Hattie Denton and Miss Millie Scott ran the general store (in different seasons of the show).

Michah Torrance was the Marshal of North Fork. Michah had previously been a Marshall but was shot in his drawing hand. That is why Michah always used a shotgun. Michah felt sorry for himself and became an alcoholic. Lucas helped Michah get his confidence back. When the Marshal of North Fork was shot in the back and killed, Michah took the job.
7. After Mrs. McCain died, Lucas could not stand to stay at their ranch. What state was this ranch located?

Lucas and Mark moved from Oklahoma. They found a ranch just outside of North Fork, New Mexico that was very similiar to their ranch in Oklahoma.

This episode of the show focused on women's right to vote. Lucas was very much against women voting until Miss Adams brought he and Mark some literature. Because of her belief in women's right to vote, some of townspeople tried to to force Miss Adams to leave North Fork. Mark read the literature and asked Lucas "Pa, wouldn't you have wanted Ma to vote?" Lucas softened his positioned and responded "I'll have to read up on that."
