Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 1.3 "We Can Kill People"- Sheila: "I know we have to kill someone today, but we have to be _____ everyday."

Answer: parents

Sheila was worried about how Abby was coping with their new situation. But, Joel was more concerned with the immediate problem of finding a suitable person to kill.
2. 1.3 "We Can Kill People"- Which of these *was* one of several criteria on the proper person to kill?

Answer: won't be missed by anyone

The "victim" needed to be a bad person of any gender, someone who would not be missed by anyone, and who deserved to die. Joel said the ideal would be a "young single Hitler". Sheila suggested a dentist who'd impregnated a woman who was having her wisdom teeth removed, but Joel said he thought that had just been a Lifetime movie.
3. 1.3 "We Can Kill People"- Which of Abby's friends accompanied her and Eric on an adventure of revenge?

Answer: Sarah

Eric and Abby encountered Sarah at Hola Tacos. Sarah was meeting her boyfriend there to celebrate their three month anniversary. After he drove by and dumped her, the trio decided to enact a revenge plot against him. Sarah called Abby by the nickname "Six Minute Abs". Kaylee Bryant played Sarah.
4. 1.3 "We Can Kill People"- Who did Joel smoke marijuana with in this episode?

Answer: Cole, the 26 year old drug dealer

Joel liked weed, and had been smoking it since episode one. They'd decided to kill the drug dealer Cole, who had been dating Abby's friend Sarah. Sheila took a call before the killing, and that gave Joel time to find out Cole was not such a "bad guy who wouldn't be missed" after all. They'd covered a Spanish revival's kitchen with Dexter Morgan like flare (plastic everywhere), and planned to kill Cole, then freeze his leftover remains to eat later. Joel sent Cole away before Sheila could eat him. Matt O'Leary played Cole.

Gary died in episode one, and Boyd Crowder is a character from Tim Olyphant's other TV series "Justified".
5. 1.3 "We Can Kill People"- Sheila killed a man from Nevada at the end of the episode.

Answer: True

She hadn't eaten for over two days at this point. Joel was driving, and just barely rear ended the man's car. This prompted the man to verbally abuse Joel. Sheila, unable to control herself, leaped onto the man and bit a chunk out of his neck. This wound was fatal, so they took his body to the storage unit. Sheila ate a bit more of him while Joel fit the rest inside the new murder freezer. Joel said the man was from Nevada, owned a strip club and a waste management company, and hopefully would not be missed. He sounds like Tony Soprano to me...

Alton Clemente played the murdered man.
6. 1.4 "The Farting Sex Tourist"- To whom did this episode title refer?

Answer: Principal Novak

Lisa Palmer came up with the reference, but Sheila actually called him that to his face. This prompted him to go through with an earlier threat to suspend Abby from school. "Odd Couple" star Thomas Lennon played Principal Novak.
7. 1.4 "The Farting Sex Tourist"- What did Joel specifically tell a store clerk that he was making a documentary about?

Answer: The undead

He had been visiting occult book stores trying to find information on his wife's condition. He told the store clerk that he was making a documentary for National Geographic on the undead. When he was unable to find any books to suit his purposes, she offered him zombie adult films.

As he was exiting the store he saw two illustrations that showed the same thing that had happened to Sheila, including the little red organ-like thing she'd thrown up in the bathroom of the Peterson house. He bought them and took them home.
8. 1.4 "The Farting Sex Tourist"- When Sheila needed advice on her bad impulses, did she discuss them with her boss Gary?

Answer: No

Gary was not seen in this episode. She went next door and talked to Eric Beemis. He told her she needed to change her behavior, but that as a zombie it would actually be impossible to do so. He tried to be encouraging, and said maybe it wasn't impossible after all, but had no direction in which to send her.
9. 1.4 "The Farting Sex Tourist"- Which of the following was *not* one of the ways Sheila influenced someone with her bad advice?

Answer: Abby decided to quit school and backpack through Europe

Sheila DID tell Abby she could quit school, but Abby knew that was wrong and did not take her advice. All of the other choices did happen. Alondra decided to follow John Legend on four tour dates in February, and her husband Rick decided to buy a Range Rover like Sheila's. Lisa slept with an oncologist, though she called it a "business opportunity" until after it had happened.

Sheila also advised Principal Novak to reverse Abby's school suspension. She told him that as a realtor she could make his life miserable.

He was instantly inspired to cancel the suspension.
10. 1.4 "The Farting Sex Tourist"- What did Dan find in the Hammonds' backyard at the end of the episode?

Answer: a finger

Dan had offered Joel a canister of ant spray, because he said the Hammonds' ants were getting into his house. When Joel did not get around to spraying, Dan went over and sprayed the backyard himself. In the grass, slightly nestled down, was one of Gary West's fingers. Uh oh?
