Answer: The Valentino Submergence

Howard and Bernadette find a rabbit in their hot tub. They rescue it from the tub and take care of it. They name it Valentino (giving the episode its title) because they found it on Valentine's Day. Howard is not careful and the rabbit bites him. Bernadette takes Howard to the emergency room and tells the audience that she'll have to find another time to tell him that she's pregnant.

Answer: America

Sheldon tells Howard that he will make a great father because they both know what it's like to grow up without a father. Sheldon sings "America" to Bernadette because he believes the line "Land where my fathers died" will remind her of this fact. In reality, Bernadette seems confused by it.

Answer: Penny

Against Sheldon's wishes, Amy throws a birthday party for him. Sheldon, who has always been known to despise birthdays, reveals this episode that the reason he hated birthdays was because his sister's friends dishonestly told him that Batman would come to his sixth birthday party, ruining all his birthdays thereafter. Amy decides to make everything right by throwing a party for him that is attended by more people than had ever before attended a Sheldon Cooper birthday party. Aside from his usual friends, other people who came to the party were Leslie Winkle, Barry Kripke, and Adam West who was invited to make up for Batman's failure to appear at Sheldon's sixth birthday party.

When Sheldon sees all of these people in his apartment, he has a panic attack and runs to his bathroom. Amy and Leonard have an argument over who should go into his room and comfort him.

They can't resolve it, so Penny goes in there to comfort him, and successfully gets him out of his room.

Answer: Sheldon

Sheldon and Leonard agree that it is wrong for Howard to receive no money from the patent, so they split their earnings with him. This requires a contract, and since Sheldon is obsessed with contracts, he writes it. Bernadette opposes the contract because Sheldon has belittled Howard so much in the past.

They make amendment to the contract saying Sheldon must respect Howard and Sheldon agrees to donate part of his earnings to a college fund for their baby.

Answer: Golf ball

When Sheldon's old laptop dies, he takes it to a storage facility with Amy. He's used this storage facility for many years and Amy is the first person he's ever shown it to or even told about. Sheldon shows her around his storage room, and shows her a golf ball with a dent in it.

Sheldon reveals that the his brother threw the ball at his head when he told him a scientific fact. Amy persuades Sheldon to get rid of something. Sheldon nearly decides to get rid of the golf ball, but as he and Amy are leaving, the golf ball slips out of his hand and goes right back into the storage room.

Answer: A secret bank account

Leonard keeps a secret bank account because he doesn't trust that Penny was going to sustain a career as a sales rep, and he's aware of her massive credit card debt. Penny admits that she is unhappy in sales, but decides to be an adult for once and stay in the career until she pays her credit card bills.

In season eight, it was revealed that Penny makes more money than Leonard these days. This revelation in season nine suggests that may never have been the case.

Answer: Jaywalking

Sheldon, Amy, Leonard, and Penny play a drinking game called "Never Have I Ever" in which you have to drink if you have done the thing that the person says he/she never did. Amy says that she's never been arrested. Then Sheldon drinks, and subsequently shocks Amy. Amy asks what this was about. Sheldon says he jaywalked. Sheldon also reveals that he verbally attacked the cop for not arresting him, and that's when he was arrested. This suggests that Sheldon was really arrested for berating a police officer and not for jaywalking, but for the purpose of the question Sheldon says that it was for jaywalking.

He did have to appear in court for running a red light, but he wasn't handcuffed for that; a camera caught him.

Answer: She uses the roommate agreement to get her way

Penny tells Leonard that the roommate agreement is important to Sheldon and that he needs to respect his wishes. However, in this argument, Amy takes Leonard's side instead of her boyfriend's side. Amy reveals that the reason Penny values the roommate agreement is because she uses it to get her way, and Amy feels bad for Leonard for this. Amy also reveals that she is jealous of how close Sheldon and Penny are. Amy feels she should be closer to Sheldon than Penny is because he is her boyfriend. Leonard tells Amy that this is because Sheldon has known Penny for longer than he knew Amy.

Sheldon and Penny are close friends, but that is not why Penny took Sheldon's side in this episode.

Answer: Bernadette

Penny wins a wine-tasting trip at work. Everybody goes except two people, one of whom hates alcohol and one of whom can't drink because she's pregnant. This is the first episode ever where Sheldon and Bernadette are alone together, although there was one episode in season five where it was just Sheldon, Bernadette, and Amy in his apartment.

Sheldon and Bernadette have a surprisingly nice time together in Sheldon's apartment. It seems the two blond women on the show, who are normally bullies, are unusually nice to Sheldon, who is normally the victim of bullies.

As a matter of fact, both Bernadette and Penny are far nicer to Sheldon than they are to their own husbands. Conversely, Bernadette is the one person whom Sheldon has always respected and never directly belittled, although he as offended her by constantly belittling her husband and by mocking biology.

Answer: Zack

Penny's ex-boyfriend Zack comes to the wine-tasting festival (not with Penny's group, just coincidentally) and he sees her and her gang. Leonard and Howard tell Zack about their new patent. Zack asks if it could be used as a military guidance system. Leonard and Howard say yes, but that isn't its purpose. Zack asks if their patent is better than the guidance system the military currently uses. Leonard and Howard say it's way better. Zack then asks "Are you sure you guys are the smart ones?" This points out a moment of irony when a man who was too dim-witted even for Penny is able to point out the potential horrific consequences of Leonard and Howard's patent.

Answer: Stuart

Sheldon pays Stuart to go shopping with Amy so that he can hold his place in line for a new "Star Trek" movie. Amy then pays Stuart to yell at Sheldon. Sheldon then goes to Amy to apologize to her, with Stuart holding his place in line. Sheldon then returns to his place in the line, but then people see him cutting the line and don't stand with him when someone cuts him in line.

Answer: Leonard's father

Leonard and Penny decide to hold a second wedding ceremony so that their parents can attend. We meet Leonard's father for the first time, who quickly bonds with Sheldon's mother. They seem to go on a date at the end of the episode, but at the beginning of season ten, they say that all they did is talk and have a nice time together, that there isn't anything going on.

Answer: Sheldon

Penny tries to arrange a meeting with a psychiatrist so she can sell her a drug. Penny cannot get this meeting because the psychiatrist doesn't want anyone selling things to her. So she sends Leonard, who poses as a patient. Although Leonard is meant to pretend to be a patient so that Penny could get a meeting with her, when he learns that the psychiatrist has read his mother's books and disagrees with his mother's parenting beliefs, Leonard arranges a real meeting with this psychiatrist.

He gets Penny a meeting with this psychiatrist too, albeit the psychiatrist treats Penny as a patient too and does not buy her drug. Penny mentions Sheldon to the psychiatrist, who then claims that Leonard talked about him a lot and she couldn't tell if he was real.

Answer: Kill her pig

Penny calls her dad and tells him that she married Leonard. She expected that her father would be disappointed that she had been hiding the news. It turns out her father was completely understanding because he had been hiding some even worse news from Penny.

Answer: Emily

When Emily comes with medicine into Sheldon's apartment when he is sick, he sends her away by saying that dermatologists are not real doctors. Emily gets back at Sheldon by saying that she will not be going on the trip to Las Vegas if Sheldon is. So they invite Emily and leave him behind.
