1. Frank Gallagher finds refuge at which neighborhood bar, the only one where he hasn't been banned?

Answer: The Alibi Room

"The Alibi" is what Frank needs - both the physical place of refuge and drink, and a frequent actual alibi for his outrageous behavior. Frank often waxes poetic, if a bit looney, in The Alibi Room, lubricated by drinks purchased on his generous tab.

2. Frank, Lip and Jody all have varying degrees of affection for the young and promiscuous Karen. Who is the father of Karen's baby?

Answer: Unknown

Karen never names (or doesn't know) who is the father of her baby boy, born with Asian features and Down's Syndrome. Lip is infatuated with Karen, but she doesn't return his love.

3. Which Gallagher child is not Frank's?

Answer: Ian

Ian, the highly-motivated, disciplined and gay third-oldest, is the son of Monica (mother to all the other Gallagher children) and Frank's brother. Liam, the youngest, is Frank's, despite being black and looking like Frank's first parole officer.

4. Ian has complex romantic relationships with which pair of people?

Answer: Mickey and Mandy

Mandy poses as Ian's girlfriend to shield him from gay-bashing and they become good friends, with some true love tinged with regret that their orientations prevent more. Ian and Mickey, Mandy's brother, have a torrid (and secret) love affair that develops into true caring.

Kev was shuffled among foster families and never learned to read - he has Lip do his taxes, Debbie writes his love notes to V, and he passed his driver's test because "they give those to anybody". Once V confirms this, she gives Kev her own brand of English tutoring.

Veronica agrees to foster Ether only long enough to get enough state money to pay off her traffic tickets. Ethel and her infant son Jonah eventually become part of Kev & V's household and the entire neighborhood.

Peg is released from prison due to her terminal cancer. Sheila opens a hospice in her home and reluctantly takes on Peg as a patient. Sheila and Peg come to some sort of peace, and Sheila performs this last courtesy at Peg's request.

8. What is Lip's first big money-making scheme, which he has to end when he is caught?

Answer: Taking SAT exams for others

Lip is incredibly bright, and is the Gallaghers' biggest money earner when taking SATs for other students, often getting them a perfect score. Lip is eventually caught by an SAT testing monitor, Professor Hearst, who tries to channel Lip's abilities into positive channels.

9. Which of these jobs do we NOT see Fiona performing?

Answer: Income tax preparer

Fiona seems to accept a job offer from Jasmine to work in her husband's income tax prep office, but we never see Fiona performing this work. Fiona "sells out" to take this mainstream job after deciding to not join Steve in Brazil.

10. What was Fiona's claim to fame in High School?

Answer: Running track

Fiona's coach had high hopes for her breaking the State 1600-meter record. Unfortunately, Fiona had to drop out to become the primary breadwinner and caregiver for her five siblings and Frank; she never broke the record and never graduated.
