Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This actress first came to light as Zoey, the presidential daughter in "West Wing." But who really wowed us later as Peggy Olson, the secretary who became an advertising executive in "Mad Men?"

Answer: Elisabeth Moss

The character of Peggy in "Mad Men" represented the awakening of women's potential in both their business and personal lives during the 1960s. Elisabeth Moss received multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild nominations for her role as Peggy, both in the Supporting and Lead Actress Categories.
2. What was the name of the District Attorney who constantly went up against Perry Mason in a (usually) losing cause?

Answer: Hamilton Burger

The role of Hamilton Burger in the classic 1957-1966 series was played by William Tallman and in a later revival by Harry Guardino. Burger actually bested Mason a couple of times in court in the classic series and several times cooperated with Mason to help expose the true culprit.
3. In "Burn Notice" Michael Westen is assisted by a former Navy SEAL named Sam Hammer.

Answer: False

Michael's friend and compatriot is Sam Axe, who is played by Bruce Campbell. Prior to "Burn Notice" Campbell largely had a cult following from his appearences in the "Evil Dead" and "Bubba Ho-tep" films.
4. Portrayed by a male actor in the classic version of "Hawaii Five-O" (1968-1980), which supporting character was played by an actress in the version of "Hawaii Five-O" which began airing in 2010?

Answer: Kono Kalakaua

Played in the earlier series by Zulu and in the later version by Grace Park, Kono was a police officer who assisted the lead characters in crime-solving. The early actor was a burly man noted for his use of muscle; the actress was computer-savvy, but also an accomplished martial artist and sharpshooter.
5. In "Emergency!" (1972-1977) the men of Station 51 were led by Captain Hank Stanley.

Answer: True

Initially the Captain ("Cap") of Station 51 was named Dick Hammer and played by a different actor. But at the beginning of the second season, the name of the Captain was changed to Stanley and the role taken over by actor Michael Norell, who played it throughout the rest of the series.
6. Played by one of Bruce Springsteen's devoted sidemen, which character was a consigliere and soldier in the crime family of "The Sopranos" (1999-2007)?

Answer: Silvio Dante

Steven Van Zandt ("Little Steven"), guitarist and singer with Bruce Springteen's E Street Band, played Silvio Dante, consigliere to Tony Soprano, manager of the Bada Bing strip club, and occasional executioner of turncoats, rats, and FBI informants on "The Sopranos." However, rivals eventually caught up with Silvio, and he was shot multiple times, falling into an irreversible coma.
7. The same actress who played secretary Mildred Krebs on "Remington Steele" (1982-1987) later played the wife of Ray Barone on "Everybody Loves Raymond" (1996-2005).

Answer: False

Doris Roberts, who created the role of secretary/operative Mildred Krebs on "Remington Steele," later played Ray Barone's mother Marie Barone on "Everybody Loves Raymond". Roberts won four Emmy Awards for her portrayal of this supporting character.
8. Which actor played brilliant surgeon Dr. Preston Burke on "Grey's Anatomy", beginning in 2005, but left the show in 2007 in a cloud of controversy?

Answer: Isaiah Washington

Isaiah Washington was acclaimed for his portrayal of heart surgeon and heartthrob Preston Burke opposite surgical resident Cristina Yang, played by Sandra Oh, on "Grey's Anatomy". The character departed the show by leaving Cristina at the altar, but in reality the actor was dropped by the show after reportedly using a homophobic slur.
9. What was the last name of the character Miss Kitty on "Gunsmoke" (1955-1975)?

Answer: Russell

Amanda Blake played saloon proprietress and (probably) Marshall Matt Dillon's lady love on "Gunsmoke" for 19 seasons. She was the third performer inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers in the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, after Tom Mix and Gary Cooper.
10. One of the most memorable characters in the large supporting cast of "Hill Street Blues", (1981-1987), Detective Mick Belker once bit a prisoner.

Answer: True

That wasn't his only trangression. Det. Belker often snarled, growled, and dressed in costume (drag included) in his pursuit of the bad guys, and pioneered such terms as "dirt bag," "maggot," and "dog breath" to refer to them. Belker was memorably played by actor Bruce Weitz, who won an Emmy for his portrayal.

In its day "Hill Street Blues" was called "the best show ever produced for American commercial television," and is still regarded as one of the best in US TV history.
