Sitcoms from the 1990s That I Like Quiz

Here are ten of my favorite sitcoms from the 1990s. There is one for every year except 1995 and 1999, but I couldn't find any that I watched, so I did two for 1993 and 1996. How many do you know?

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 1990: What is the name of the airline the Hackett brothers own on "Wings?"

Answer: Sandpiper Air

"Wings" ran for eight seasons and took place mainly in the fictional Nantucket airport, Tom Nevers Field. Joe (Tim Daly) Hackett owned Sandpiper, and his younger brother Brian (Steven Weber) worked there as a pilot. Roy Biggins (David Schramm) owned the competing airline Aeromass. Fay (Rebecca Schull) worked for the Hacketts announcing flights to the passengers.

Helen (Crystal Bernard) was a childhood friend and later dated and ultimately married Joe.
2. 1991: Who did Frank Lambert marry on "Step by Step?"

Answer: Carol Foster

Suzanne Summers played Carol and Patrick Duffy played Frank. In the pilot episode, they are already married. It happened when they saw each other while on vacation in Jamaica without their children. They were waiting for the right time to tell the children (they each had three).

They have a barbeque to get the kids together. However, when Dana Foster (Staci Keanan) comes downstairs and sees JT Lambert (Brandon Call), she refers to him as "Rat boy" and instantly dislikes him because he put a rat in her locker at school.

The children all start fighting, and Penny (Patrika Darbo), Carol's sister, comments that Frank and Carol probably wish they were back in Jamaica. The kids realize that their parents were both there then. J.T. comments, "you're already dating the bimbo." Frank tells his son, "you watch your mouth, young man.

She's not a bimbo, and we're not dating; we are married."
3. 1992: What is the name of the Buchmans' dog on "Mad About You?"

Answer: Murray

Murray was played by a dog named Maui. Maui was found by animal trainer Boone Narr at an animal shelter. The dog weighed 58 pounds and played backup to the lead dog in the 1991 movie "Bingo." He was a collie mix.
4. 1993: What was the name of Frasier's brother on "Frasier?"

Answer: Niles

"Fraiser" was a spin-off of "Cheers" and debuted in 1993. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammar) has moved to Seattle, Washington, to host a radio psychiatry call-in show. His younger brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce) was also a psychiatrist and often looked down on Frasier doing psychiatry on the radio. Niles was married to an unseen Maris at the beginning of the series. However, he was infatuated with Daphne (Jane Leeves), who was Frasier and Niles' father, Martin Crane's (John Mahoney) live-in physical therapist. Martin lived with Frasier because he was shot in the hip. He is a retired police officer.

By season seven, Niles and Maris were no longer together, and Niles and married a woman named Mel (Jane Adams). In the final episode of season seven, Frasier was heavily medicated with pain meds for his back, and accidentally told Daphne that Niles was in love with her. She ultimately realizes she loved him as well, but he was married, and she was engaged.
5. 1993: In "Boy Meets World," what is the name of Cory Matthews' older brother?

Answer: Eric

Cory Matthews is the youngest, and in later seasons, the middle child, of Amy (Betsy Randle) and Alan (William Russ). The series focuses on Cory's life from sixth grade through college.

Eric Matthews was portrayed by Will Friedle. Eric has a heart of gold, but is clueless. He loves Mr. Feeney (William Daniels), who was Cory's teacher through most of the series. He was also the Matthews' neighbor.
6. 1994: Where did they hang out on "Friends?"

Answer: Central Perk

"Friends" debuted in 1994 and was the day-to-day life of six friends. Monica (Courtney Cox) was a chef and her brother Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) was a paleontologist. Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) was Monica's childhood friend. She and Ross dated for a bit in season two and then had an on-gain-off-again romance. They were briefly married in Las Vegas in season five while they were both drunk. Ross and Rachel also had a child named Emma in season eight.

Their friend Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) is a struggling actor and not very bright. At the beginning of the series, he lives with Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry). Throughout the series, the six of them changed roommates periodically. Chandler and Monica got married in season seven.

Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) is their other friend. She often plays her guitar at Central Perk and sings her famous song "Smelly Cat." Phoebe has a twin sister named Ursula (also played by Kudrow), a cross-over guest character periodically from the show "Mad About You."
7. 1996: In "Everybody Loves Raymond,' what was the name of Ray's brother?

Answer: Robert

"Everyone Loves Raymond" was a sitcom about the Barone family. Ray (Raymond Ramano) was a sports writer. His wife Debra (Patricia Heaton) is a stay-at-home mother with three children: Ally (Madlin Sweeten) and her younger twin brothers, Geoffrey (Sawyer Sweeten) and Michael (Sullivan Sweeten).

Ray's brother Robert (Brad Garrett) was a police officer. He lived with their parents for a long time. Their mother, Marie (Doris Roberts), was a nosy woman who put down Debra every chance she got. She clearly favored Ray over Robert. Their father, Frank (Peter Boyle), was always complaining. He couldn't stand his wife, so he loved Debra. Later in season seven, Robert married his girlfriend, Amy (Monica Horan).

Answer: Tahj Mowry

T.J. was a genius. He is only in fourth grade but is advanced to tenth grade, putting him in school with his older brother and sister (Jason Weaver and Essence Atkins). TJ had to learn how to be a gifted child but remain a child while dealing with teenagers who he was usually, if not always, smarter than.

Tahj Mowry was born May 17, 1986, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the younger brother of twin actresses, Tia and Tamera Mowry. Before starring in "Smart Guy," Mowry played Michelle Tanner's best friend, Teddy, in fourteen episodes of "Full House."
