At the end of season 2, Clark destroyed the spaceship, causing his mother to have a miscarriage. Clark puts on his class ring, which contains red kryptonite, which makes him bad. He rides off on a motorcycle to Metropolis, where he is 3 months later, at the beginning of season 3.
