History shows that the book only disassembles the triquetra when the power of three is no more. It happened after Prue's death and reassembled when the girls used Paige to reconstitute the power of three. It also split in season three's "Power Outage", when the girls destroyed the power of three by using their powers on each other.

This is one plot point that was not destroyed in the "Charmed" timeline.

Here we run across a glaring plot mistake and lack of continuity within the series' run. This spell, to separate a witch from her powers, was used in season two's "How To Make A Quilt Out of Americans". Aunt Gail used it to strip the girls of their powers and give them to the demon Cryto. Cryto promised to make Aunt Gail a young woman again and stop her terminal illness.

The girls were so disturbed by this that they removed that spell from the 'Book of Shadows' at the end of that episode.

Phoebe decided that they could try to distract Zankou by humiliating him. So, while the demons were downstairs the girls orbed backed to the attic and used a spell to turn Zankou into a pig. All but his head was turned into a pig. Unfortunately, when Phoebe tried to retrieve the book, it rejected her and sent her flying across the attic.

Elder Sandra came into Magic School to heal Piper. While there, she alerted the group to the spell that would banish the nexus once and for all. This was a spell of last resort to prevent evil from controlling so much power. Suxen is nexus spell backward, and banishing it would effectively take away much of the power the girls had harnessed as well. Using this spell to kill Zankou would place the girls in such close proximity that they would be surely killed as well. Phoebe explained that if they allowed the nexus to take in Zankou (yes she said it like that and not Zankou taking in the nexus) they could kill two birds with one stone. Zankou would be banished right along with the nexus.

Piper also mentioned that she'd included their power of attorney in the paper work. Victor was resistant at first, but Phoebe and Piper convinced him they needed to know they had this covered before battling Zankou. The girls seemed pretty certain they would lose their lives in the battle.

This was also a bad plot point. The girls defeated the Source twice in one season. If the Source was unable to gain control over the book and the manor, how was Zankou supposedly powerful enough to do this? It looks as if the writers were resigned to not being renewed for an eighth season and skipped over some valuable Halliwell history while writing a series wrap up.

Darryl did not know that Zankou had taken any of the girls' powers. Zankou never did get Paige's power anyway, so the girls could have orbed out of the basement before the blast got them. The need to use astral projection was not totally accurate. I think this was a way to include Prue in the finale, in case no more episodes were made. Darryl knew Paige could orb, so his hoping they found another way out was factually inaccurate.

He also mentioned that 'their had to be another way out'. He already knew there was another way out, via orbing. Darryl has been written inaccurately for the last two seasons-in my opinion anyway.

Piper was a red head, Phoebe a blonde, and Paige still brunette. They also turned Leo into a short man with spikey brown hair. Darryl was standing on the manor's stoop and watched the foursome walk away. It was a blonde Phoebe that turned her head and smiled, allowing Darryl to know they had all lived.

At the very end of the show, the manor door closed magically. I believe it was Prue who closed the door, like she did at the end of season one.
