When the family calls the police over this, Chief Wiggum tells them "Maybe Mr. Burns can sell you one of the 25 he got yesterday." That's when the family knows that Mr. Burns stole the puppies. Bart and Lisa go to Mr. Burns' house, and they overhear Mr. Burns singing about his intentions with the puppies.

The song he sings is "See My Vest," a parody of the song "Be Our Guest" from "Beauty and the Beast." The point being that he is going to kill the puppies and turn them into clothes.

In the end, instead of killing the puppies, Mr. Burns raises them as racing dogs.

Then Homer starts a song convincing them not to tear it down. What he sings is "You could tear down Moe's or the Kwik-E-Mart and nobody would care. But the heart and soul of Springfield's in our Maison Derriere." This is ironic because usually Moe's and the Kwik-E-Mart are Homer's two favorite places. Anyway, the song convinces everyone to not destroy the house, except Marge who wasn't around to hear it because she rented a bulldozer. Marge sings a verse of her own song, trying to re-convince the people to destroy the place.
