Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Name of the being who surrounded the Enterprise in a starless void to try and experiment on no less than one third of the crew.

Answer: Nagilum

It turned out Nagilum just wanted to know about what the humans thought about death. At first, Nagilum wanted to kill 1/3 of the crew and later had Data ask Picard about death.
2. Name of species that Picard fought with when he was stabbed, causing him to need a replacement heart.

Answer: Nausicaans

His friend started the fight. Picard relived this event when his heart failed and Q let him find out what his life would have been like had he not gotten into that fight.
3. Type of medical instrument that Dr. Crusher used to try and revive Tasha Yar in 'Skin of Evil.'

Answer: neural stimulant

It didn't work - Tasha died. She didn't even make it to the end of the season.
4. Elevated levels of this was found in the body of Sev Maylor in 'Man of the People.'

Answer: neurotransmitter

This helped Dr. Crusher put two and two together to realise that Ambassador was using people as receptacles. Because he did this, the receptacles would age rapidly.
5. Name of the squadron that Wesley Crusher was able to join.

Answer: Nova

Wesley and his friends attempted a banned maneuver, which led to the death of one of the squadron members.
6. Name that Picard called Riker.

Answer: Number One

'Number One' wasn't a 'Next Generation' invention. It was actually the name of the character in the first 'Star Trek' plot ('The Cage') played by none other than Majel Barrett.
7. Name of the song that Troi asked Riker to play in 'Second Chances.'

Answer: 'Night Bird'

Riker had had trouble with the trombone solo... Actually, he'd never gotten it right. Luckily, this time he was called away just before the solo began.
8. Title of the episode where the crew can't sleep.

Answer: 'Night Terrors'

The only person who could sleep was Denna, and all she had were nightmares. It turned out that there was another ship caught in the area and the sleep disruption was their attempt to communicate.
9. Helped cause the failure of Dr. Timicin's attempt at stabalizing his planet's sun.

Answer: neutron migration

Dr. Timicin had had trouble stopping the neutron migration in 'Half a Life.' Unfortunately, he was never able to complete his work as he had to go back to his planet for a ritual suicide. Mrs. Troi, who had become close to him, accompanied him - while promising not to make trouble.
10. In 'Cost of Living' (a Mrs. Troi episode), what part of the ship were the parasites eating?

Answer: nitrium

It caused a lot of systems to fail including the inertial dampners, replicators and (you guessed it) the holodeck.
