Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Endgame", Admiral Janeway asks the Doctor to get her a supply of an experimental drug. What was the name of the drug?

Answer: Chronexaline

Some Star Trekese FYI: the prefix 'chrono' usually deals with time and time travel.
2. In 'State of Flux', what did Chakotay say to Tuvok when he found out that Seska was a Cardassian spy?

Answer: Was anyone on my ship working for me?

In the first episode of the series it was revealed that Tuvok joined Chakotay's Maquis crew to spy for Starfleet. Now, Seska is revealed to be a Cardassian (she had been altered to look like a Bajoran). Despite the disturbing turn of events, our favorite first officer seems to have kept his sense of humor!
3. In "Year of Hell", Neelix suggested to Tuvok that they change the phrase used by the computer warning system. Which of the following was one of his suggestions?

Answer: Intruders among us! Danger, danger! Intruders among us!

He certainly tried Tuvok's patience. Do you remember who was walking with Tuvok (and why) during this scene? It was Seven. She was escorting him because he had been blinded in an explosion.
4. In various episodes, Chakotay talked about his spirit guide. Which animal did he say represented the guide?

Answer: He never said

Although he had discussions with both the Captain and B'Elanna about his spirit guide, he specifically said he would not reveal what kind of animal it was.
5. In 'The Fight', Janeway said that she missed one question during her senior year at the academy in Exogenetics and it kept her from getting an 'A'. What was the question regarding?

Answer: Nucleotide resonance frequency

During this episode, the ship was trapped in what they called 'chaotic space'. The aliens who lived there (and were never seen or heard) contacted Chakotay by stimulating his 'crazy' gene to communicate with him and show him how to get the ship out of danger.

The aliens were so 'strange' that they could not communicate by conventional means. They used a boxing simulation that was a favorite holodeck program of Chakotay to make first contact and took the form of a boxer named 'Kid Chaos'. I guess a 'crazy' gene comes in handy in the Delta Quadrant.
6. In the final episode, B'Elanna uncharacteristically gives Tom a nickname which she used more than once on the show. What was it?

Answer: A Starfleet Fly-Boy

B'Elanna never called him this before. Her actions seemed uncharacteristic because she was implying that Tom would 'run off' and leave her to care for their child alone. In previous shows this was not a concern (they even had discussed sharing midnight feedings!). A Targ is a boar-like animal native to the Klingon homeworld.
7. When Voyager entered fluidic space, the realm of species 8472, Torres remarked, "This isn't space, it's ___".

Answer: Matter

The Borg started a war with Species 8472 (Borg designation of course) by entering their realm of fluidic space and trying to assimilate them as is their way...However, 8472 was 'more resistant' to assimilation than anticipated. Unaware of this, Captain Janeway makes a deal with 'the Devil', aka the Borg, and helps them defeat 8472 in exchange for safe passage through Borg space. Did the Borg keep their end of the deal? Te'anran'rhoid is a dream like realm from the Robert Jordan series 'Wheel of Time'.
8. In "Unimatrix Zero", the Borg Queen shook up one of the crew members with this cryptic remark. What did she say?

Answer: See you soon, Harry

Even the Borg Queen was a joker now and then. Poor Harry had a very worried look on his face as he responded, "What did she mean by that?"
9. In "Virtuoso", the Doctor performed a selection from a famous opera for the technologically advanced but socially inept members of the Qomar species. Upon completing the piece, the Doctor gave the name of the opera and its composer. What did he say?

Answer: "Don Carlos" by Giuseppe Verdi

Robert Picardo as the Doctor gave a wonderfully moving performance in this episode. At first adored by the Qomar for his musical ability, the Doctor prepares to leave the ship forever to stay with his adoring fans. Finally, it seems that he has found the love and appreciation that he always wanted while on Voyager.

Then, it is revealed that the Qomar only view him as a piece of technology, which they 'improved' upon when they created their own version of the singing Doctor. He returns to Voyager crushed and humiliated. Janeway gently takes him to task.

He is treated like any other 'flesh and blood' member of the crew and expected to return to duty. Seven of Nine also helps the Doctor overcome his feelings of failure by writing a fan letter and reading it to him.

She tells him that she and many others on board appreciate his unique talents and admire him as an individual. High praise from Seven! "Elektra" and "The Magic Flute" are real operas with their respective composers. Denara Pel is a Vidiian who had a fling with the Doctor.
10. In "Bride of Chaotica", Captain Janeway told Tom her dress size. What was it?

Answer: 4

Many "Voyager" fans choose the "Captain Proton" episodes as some of their favorites. I wouldn't put them on the top of my list but they were very entertaining. "The Bride...", and all other "Proton" programs were done in black and white to stay true to Tom Paris's recreation of classic-era sci-fi and also included death rays, clanky robots and lots of grandiose dialogue!
