Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "The Phage," we find out what an area in the mess hall had originally been intended for. What was this area originally designated as?

Answer: Captain's private dining room

The episode opens with Janeway asking Chakotay if he'd like some breakfast. When she enters the room, Neelix is in there 'cooking' (more like setting various things on fire). Neelix had taken it upon himself to take some of the food they were growing on the ship and cook for the crew, as they were getting a little tired of eating rations all the time.
2. By the time Neelix leaves the ship in the seventh season, which organ of his wasn't originally his?

Answer: lungs

Neelix's lungs were taken from him by the Vidiians in "The Phage." By the time the crew found his lungs, they had already been implanted into a Vidiian. Janeway, unwilling to condemn the Vidiian to death, consents to the Vidiians assisting the Doctor with a transplant of one of Kes' lungs into Neelix.
3. Chakotay claims he doesn't eat this food.

Answer: meat

However, he does eat the food Janeway replicates. I think I'd rather eat meat as when she's tried to cook, the food has been terrible and on more than one occasion even her replicated food hasn't turned out (or the replicator broke). Let's just say Leola root ANYTHING sounds good to me.
4. Speaking of Chakotay, Seska claimed to have impregnated herself with a sample of his DNA. Was the child ultimately his?

Answer: No

It turned out that it was actually Kullah's. The Kazon took over Voyager in "Basics" and when the Doctor examined the infant, Seska was shocked (and upset) to learn the child was actually Kullah's. After her death, Kullah took the child to raise as a Kazon.
5. How does Janeway take her coffee?

Answer: black

Chakotay preferred tea.
6. Torres wasn't Janeway's first choice for Chief Engineer. Who was?

Answer: Joe Carey

On the bridge during a crisis, Chakotay contacts Torres for her opinion, even though Carey outranked her. Janeway got upset and then told him never to do that again. Chakotay eventually convinced Janeway to allow Torres to join a staff meeting (with Joe Carey) where she eventually hits it off with Janeway.
7. Which pair could not be considered best friends at any point of the series?

Answer: Chakotay and Tuvok

Neelix and Tuvok hit it off when Tuvok's memory had been erased. While Neelix was trying to re-acclimate Tuvok to the ship, Tuvok became attached to the Talaxian.
Seska and Torres were best friends when the series began. They'd been in the Maquis together. I think their friendship broke down when Seska joined up with the Kazon.
Janeway and Chakotay's relationship grew closer after they had been stranded on a planet in "Resolutions." However, I think Chakotay going out with Seven toward the end of the series put a strain on the friendship.
8. In "Persistence of Vision," the crew saw the faces of loved ones on the viewscreen. However, Paris said he wasn't tempted to look at it. Why was this?

Answer: The person he saw was his father

Paris didn't really get along with his father, a Starfleet Admiral. When we first saw his father on the viewscreen, Admiral Paris said that he had hoped Paris had been behaving himself. I wouldn't have been tempted to look either.
9. Which of the following never kissed each other on the lips in any scene of the show?

Answer: Janeway and Chakotay

Torres and Chakotay in "Persistence of Vision." This was Torres' 'fantasy.'
Neelix and Kes in the episode where Kes says that she'd never been kissed in a Nebula.
Kim and Seven kiss (although not in real life) while Harry was trying to fix something in a Jeffries tube.
Although it is rumoured that a couple 'steamy' scenes for "Resolutions" were left on the cutting room floor, we never see Janeway and Chakotay kiss on the lips.
10. Which Alpha Quadrant species (not including members of the crew) do we never see in the Delta Quadrant?

Answer: Betazoid

Although Stadi was a Betazoid, she was a member of the crew. But then she died in the pilot episode. We saw two Ferengi (actually, the ones from the "Next Generation" episode "The Price") in "False Profits." Klingons we find in the episode where Torres' unborn child holds the key to a disease the Klingons had. And a Romulan is seen in the episode where the crew finds a wormhole - except the wormhole goes BACK through time.
11. One of Chakotay's 'flings.' However, he has no memory of her, apart from what he wrote down.

Answer: Kellin

The Ramurans have a special quality about them where all memory of them is erased in the minds of the people they encounter. "Unforgettable"
12. Janeway doesn't kiss anyone in this episode.

Answer: "Coda"

"Persistence of Vision" is where she kissed Mark (who was actually a hallucination). She kissed Kashyk in "Counterpoint" as he was leaving to re-join the Devore inspection team. Jaffen got at least one kiss from Janeway in "Workforce". At least I hope he got more than one kiss - she did move in with him, after all.

However, Janeway doesn't kiss anyone in "Coda" - she was too busy trying to stop dying.
13. This character never used a mobile emitter.

Answer: Dr. Chaotica

The Doctor used it in a lot of episodes, having obtained it in "Future's End." Da Vinci in the episode "Concerning Flight" and Reginald Barclay in the episode where the Ferengi sent a doctored program of Reginald Barclay's to the ship to try and get Voyager for themselves. However, Dr. Chaotica never made it out of the holodeck.
14. The Delta Flyer of season 7 was not the same one used previously in the series. Why?

Answer: The original was destroyed by the Borg

Janeway got the bright idea to use it in order to get assimilated by the Borg in "Unimatrix Zero." For some reason, the Borg decided to destroy it instead of assimilating its technology. (Or maybe they just didn't like the way Tom designed it?) This is one shuttle destruction that can't be blamed on Chakotay.
15. Chakotay spent a lot of the series playing 'Devil's Advocate' for Janeway (or just plain disagreeing with her orders) in many episodes. However, in which episode does he not do this?

Answer: "Workforce"

"Unimatrix Zero" is when he disagrees with her choice of being willingly assimilated by the Borg. He disagrees with her in "Year of Hell" about her choice of keeping the crew together in the ship, even though it was falling apart around them. "Equinox" has no shortage of disagreements over her handling of the Captain Ransom situation, the most famous (loudest?) of which was when she almost killed Noah Lessing in the cargo bay trying to get information from the member of Equinox's crew.

However, he couldn't disagree with her orders in "Workforce" because she spent most of the time being a happy little worker bee while Chakotay tried to save the entire crew.
