Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What caused the show to run short of its scheduled 90 minute length?

Answer: The script was printed in the wrong format

Apparently, a show's length was determined by the number of pages in the script. The use of the wrong format caused the show to reach the "goodnight" stage with thirty-seven seconds left to fill.
2. When left with over half a minute to ad lib at the end of the show, guest host Jessica Simpson proposed a prayer. To what did the not-too-bright blonde refer in her offering?

Answer: Peace in the Midwest

In response to the geographically challenged Ms. Simpson's statement, Jordan later joked about the "suffering in Des Moines".
3. Harriet was not fully dressed when Tom and Simon burst into the room without knocking. What object did Harriet use to cover herself?

Answer: Stuffed animal

All that Harriet could find to cover herself was a small stuffed toy lamb. Tom and Simon were surprised by her sudden modesty as they told her that they had seen her change clothing many times off-stage between sketches. Harriet informed perplexed male co-stars that being seen in her bra and panties while working was a completely different situation than barging in on her after a show.
4. How many jobs did Jordan advise Danny to cut in order to meet new network budget restraints?

Answer: 15

NBS was planning to go deep into debt with an Asian investment, and needed large cutbacks. Danny flatly refused to fire any "Studio 60" personnel.
5. What was Harriet seriously considering doing that would drastically change her public image?

Answer: Pose in lingerie for a magazine

Harriet was upset that she was not selected for a movie role because she was not perceived as being sexy enough for the part. She wanted to tarnish her 'church girl' image to make herself more suitable for film casting directors.
6. What unpopular means of increasing "Studio 60" revenues was suggested by network executives?

Answer: Product placement

Product placement would have included the use and/or mentioning of name brand products during "Studio 60" shows and sketches.
7. For which "Studio 60" sketch were writers Ron and Ricky secretly developing a pilot series?

Answer: Peripheral Vision Man

Matt was conflicted when he learned that NBS had an option for "Peripheral Vision Man" that expired at midnight. He didn't mind losing Ricky and Ron, but he was sure that the new show would flop, and he did not want his name attached to something that he did not write.
8. A campaign poster for which presidential candidate adorned the wall in the make-up room?

Answer: Josiah Bartlet

The "Vote for Bartlet" poster seen hanging on the wall was a subtle reference to the fictional President Josiah "Jed" Bartlet from the television series "The West Wing". Writer Aaron Sorkin wrote both "The West Wing" and "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip".
9. Ron and Ricky took several of the "Studio 60" staff writers with them when they left. How many writers remained on Matt's team?

Answer: 2

Lucy, who had never had a sketch aired, and Darius, who had only recently been hired, were the only ones remaining after the mass exodus. Matt was unfazed and commented that was "two more than I had when I took this job."
10. Who came up with a relatively simple solution for "Studio 60" to earn more revenue?

Answer: Cal

Inasmuch as "Studio 60" was broadcast live from Los Angeles, California, director Cal sketched a studio set scene design that included billboard of national products. Network executives could then sell space to businesses that wanted a poster on the street scene.
