In this episode Allison Janney was the guest host of "The Disaster Show". In the show within a show guest hosts played themselves. Felicity Huffman was the host of the pilot, whilst Lauren Graham appeared in the episodes "The Long Lead Story" and "The Wrap Party". Diana-Maria Riva is a member of the cast where she plays Lilly Rodriguez working alongside Cal in the control room.

Danny had lost his rag in negotiations, and the prop-masters had walked out early as the strike was supposed to start at midnight. Apart from the teaser we do not see Danny in this episode as he is supposed to be negotiating on the phone. Cal says that Danny's tyres are being slashed by the Teamsters. Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union is the British equivalent of the prop-masters union, whilst members of International Union of Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers were not involved with this dispute.
