Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Fill in this quote by the little girl to her parents after Sam and Dean saved her family from the rakshasa: "Mommy, Daddy, they shot my ______."

Answer: clown

In "Everybody Loves a Clown" the rakshasa dressed as a clown so children would invite it into their homes. The creature then killed the parents. In addition to a lot of humor surrounding Sam's childhood fear of clowns, the episode also had a lot of drama as the brothers faced grief and guilt over the loss of their father.
2. While in a bank in Milwaukee, the brothers had to manage the gun-toting would be hero Ronald, attempt to protect all the civilians, kill the shapeshifter, and evade a SWAT team. Dean told his brother, "I'm going to do a sweep of the whole place, see if I can find any stragglers. Once we get everyone together, we gotta play a little game of find the ______ ."

Answer: freak

This scene was in "Nightshifter". Right after this, Dean told his brother to help Ronald "manage the situation". Sam responded by asking his brother if he was insane. While arguing, they had to stop to tell Ronald to get out of the light. Ronald moved, but later moved back into the light and was killed. He appeared again in "Are you there God? It's Me, Dean Winchester" as a ghost.
3. In "All Hell Breaks Loose Part Two," Azazel explained to Sam why he and the others had been brought to the ghost town. He said, "Welcome to the ______ ______ Pageant. Why do you think you're here? This is a competition. Only one of you crazy kids is gonna make it out of here alive."

Answer: Miss America

Azazel told Sam he was his favorite in this scene. He explained that he killed Mary because she interrupted him while he was dripping demon blood into baby Sam and that he killed Jessica to keep Sam sharp. Sam also found out his mother recognized the demon, but did not find out why. That question did not get answered until Dean went to the future during "In the Beginning" of season 4.
4. While on a Hollywood set investigating a mysterious death, the studio executive mistook Dean for a PA and asked him to get him a smoothie. Dean asked Sam, "What's a PA"? Sam replied, "I think they're kind of like ______ ."

Answer: slaves

This was from "Hollywood Babylon". Gary Cole played the studio executive that was killed later in the episode. The episode had a lot of fun inside jokes for fans, including Sam commenting about how the Los Angeles weather was practically Canadian (the show is filmed in Vancouver), and the studio tour driver mentioning "Lois and Clark" and "Gilmore Girls"- shows that the two "Supernatural" stars were on before joining "Supernatural".
5. While walking away from Diana, the police detective played by Linda Blair, Dean said to his brother, "Are you hungry? For some reason, I could really go for some ______ ______."

Answer: pea soup

Linda Blair, most famous for her role in "The Exorcist" (hence, the pea soup reference) played the Baltimore detective that worked with Sam and Dean to find a killer in the "Supernatural" episode, "The Usual Suspects". There was a ghost in the episode, but she was a death omen, seeking to stop her killer from killing others.

The actual killer was the human who was the partner of Diana.
6. In "Houses of the Holy" Dean said, "I think I learned a valuable lesson. Always take down your Christmas decorations after New Year's, or you might get filleted by a(n) ______."

Answer: hooker from God

In this episode, the hooker that killed someone told Sam that an angel told her to do so, and had given her a sign which she saw near the man's door. When Dean saw the angel decoration near the man's door, he sarcastically told Sam it was a sign from up above and followed up with this line.
7. Sam to Dean: "Dean, did you pay any attention in history class?" Dean's response: "Yeah. Shot heard round the world, how bills become laws . . ." Sam: "That's not school. That's ______ ______."

Answer: schoolhouse rock

This scene occurred early during "Croatoan". Sam spotted the word on a pole and reminded his brother about the Roanoke colony. "Schoolhouse Rock" was a series of short musical educational programs that ABC aired on Saturday mornings during cartoons.
8. In "Roadkill," Sam and Dean were looking for Greeley's grave. Sam found an old photo and told Dean that planting a tree as a grave marker was "an old country custom". Dean responded by telling Sam, "You're like a walking ______ of weirdness."

Answer: encyclopedia

The brothers were hunting the ghost of Greeley, who had been hit by a car years before. Molly was with them for nearly the whole episode before she and the viewers finally discovered that they were also hunting her, since she was the ghost of the woman who died in the car accident when she hit Greeley.
9. After walking into the private residence of the innkeeper in "Playthings" and seeing the huge doll collection, Dean said, "Wow. This is a lot of dolls. They're nice, you know, they're not ______ at all."

Answer: super creepy

Dean actually talked the woman into letting him and his brother into the residence by telling her that Sam had a "huge doll collection" at home and liked to "dress them up in these little tiny outfits". It was hard to determine what was funnier: Dean's words or Sam's expression.
10. In "All Hell Breaks Loose Part Two," Azazel convinced Jake to open the Devil's Gate. He told him, "The rest of your life and your family's could be money and honey, health and wealth, every day is ______.

Answer: ice cream Sunday

This episode was the season finale. It set up the themes and plot line for season 3, freeing demons from the Devil's Gate and giving Dean a year to live. The episode also tied up one key story from the first two seasons by having Dean kill Azazel.
11. In "All Hell Breaks Loose Part One," Ava told Sam she had been in the ghost town for months. When Sam asked if she had killed other psychics that had been there, she replied, "I'm the undefeated ______."

Answer: heavyweight champ

Sam was appalled to realize the sweet girl he had met months before had become a killer controlling demons. Jake killed Ava as she was about to sic a demon on Sam.
12. When Sam asked Dean to consider that there may actually be an angel directing people to kill evil people in Providence, Rhode Island, Dean responded, "No, this is a demon or a spirit. You know, they find people a few fries short of a ______ ______ and they trick them into killing these randoms."

Answer: happy meal

This exchange was from "Houses of the Holy". It was actually the spirit of a murdered priest that was directing people to kill others. This episode also touched on Sam's faith in God, Dean's skepticism, and showed the painting of the archangel Michael. It was all a great precursor to the plots to come in later seasons.
13. When Sam told Dean that they were hunting a djinn in "What is and What Should Never Be," Dean got distracted by the thought of genies and old television shows. He said, "My God, Barbara Eden was hot, wasn't she? Way hotter than ______ ."

Answer: that 'Bewitched' chick

In this episode, Dean was attacked by the djinn, which sent him into an alternate universe in his mind where his mother never died. In that world, Sam was in law school and engaged to Jessica. The brothers were not close in the alternate world, though, and all the people they had saved in real life had died in the alternate world.
14. After getting themselves caught by the police in order to hunt a ghost in a jail, Dean told Sam, "Look, all we gotta do is find this ghost, put the sucker down, and grab ourselves a couple of ____________."

Answer: teardrop tattoos

This episode was "Folsom Prison Blues". Part of what made this episode so funny was seeing how comfortable Dean was in the jail - and how uncomfortable Sam was there.
15. Azazel was always an entertaining villain. His last speech to Dean before Dean killed him contained several classic lines. Among those lines was the following, "So Dean, I gotta thank you. You see, demons can't resurrect people unless a deal's made. I know red tape, it'll make you nuts. But thanks to you, Sammy's back in ______."

Answer: rotation

Azazel went on to suggest to Dean that what was resurrected was not pure Sam. He then said, "You of all people should know that what's dead should stay dead". This set up another theme for the next couple seasons of whether Sam had changed somehow, and if so, why.
