Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Maeve realizes that she can continue to return to the lab only if she does which of these?

Answer: Kills herself

Maeve awakens in her bed and heads to the cupboard to dress for work. As she walks to the Mariposa Saloon, a man posts a Wanted poster for Hector Escaton. Maeve and Clementine chat for a bit before a newcomer shows up in the bar. Maeve decides to deal with this one.

She brings her client up to his room and, after some taunting, gets him to choke her during their session. She awakens in the labs as Felix operates on her. Bernard and Elsie look at the satellite uplink found in the woodcutter's body. Since the host was an old model, its geocaching information is held in legacy files inside its programming. To get to it, Bernard needs t head downstairs to the lab storage.
2. Bernard uses old files to track the woodcutter anomaly via its geocached data. How many other anomalies does he find?

Answer: Five

Bernard heads down to floor B-82 and the place is in disrepair. The lights flicker; the ceiling leaks. In this seemingly-abandoned lab he finds a computer terminal and begins to work, connecting his device and comparing data. During this time, however, he identifies five other anomalies-- hosts unregistered with the new cataloguing system. Ford, meanwhile, considers building his canyon further, but stops himself before he's meant to demolish the small town Lawrence hails from.

He spies the mark of the maze carved into a table there, and when he returns to his office in the labs, revisits the image in an old sketchbook.
3. According to Teddy, what do the Natives believe waits at the center of the maze?

Answer: A man

Teddy and the Man in Black reach Pariah discussing the maze on the inside of the scalp. Teddy knows it as a Native myth-- it's the sum of a man's life, the choices he makes, the things he hangs onto. At the center of the maze is a legendary man who has been killed over and over again, but returned to take power over time.

They come across a wagon leaving town; there's trouble in Pariah and soldiers have closed the border. Felix tells Maeve that she's been programmed to do everything she wants to.

She asks how he knows he's not a host as well, and he explains that he was born, unlike her, in the human world. She asks for proof and he pairs his device up with her, showing how her programming parses speech. She watches as her words are decided for her and, as this happens, a critical error shorts her out. Felix is unable to bring her back to consciousness without a password.
4. Felix allows Maeve to walk through the upper floors of the Westworld labs. Which of these does she not see?

Answer: Dr. Ford's office

Bernard seeks out Theresa who, considering her talk with Ford, wants to discuss their relationship. She ends it between them. Considering her attitude he decides not to bring up the anomaly issue with her, instead leaving the room. Felix continues to try and reboot Maeve, but the host won't respond. Eventually his attempts to bring her back work and she asks to see 'upstairs'.

He's convinced. He walks her past the chamber of dead hosts and past the lab rooms of host templates before bringing her up the escalators to the upper floors.

She watches as animals are put through diagnostic tests. On the design floor, people sculpt new models. Felix urges her to return to the lab, but an advertisement playing on a wall-- one of which features her in a past incarnation...with her daughter-- shocks her.

She believed they were only dreams; Felix says it was her in a previous build. As Felix speaks to her, his lab partner arrives and says he's going to tell QA about the indiscretion. Maeve grabs a scalpel and threatens him, claiming that she can get them what they want, and if anyone stops her, or tries, then she can fight back.
5. After his new narrative was tossed out, Lee decided to do which of these?

Answer: Take sick leave

Theresa continues to work with the board and the higher-ups while overseeing the park from her office above the control room. She ends up heading topside though to find Lee by a pool on 'sick leave'. In the distance, the sound of demolition can be heard.

She worries that Ford's restructuring may be displacing too many hosts; Lee is just frustrated that his years of hard work with narratives are being pushed aside. She warns that if Ford can't pull off his new narrative, the board will likely look for another owner, and not from within the park. Teddy and the Man in Black, meanwhile, find a tunnel that will lead them into the old territory but they find that it's guarded as well.

They know they need each other to find Wyatt, they can't risk too much. That's when they see two soldiers patrolling in the distance.
6. Upon infiltrating the soldier encampment outside of Pariah, who's recognized by the hosts therein?

Answer: Teddy

Teddy and the Man in Black don soldiers' clothes and walk right up to the tunnel camp, discovering that many of the soldiers there are actually victims of Wyatt who, during their encounter, must've been particularly torturous. A soldier recognizes Teddy and a gunfight ensues. Both Teddy and the Man in Black are captured.
Up at the pool, Lee meets a woman at the bar who, as it seems, can read him just as he can read the visitors. Lee's quickly cut off by the bartender, even though he smuggles a bottle from behind the counter, because Theresa wants him to sober up and get back to work. Lee's meeting with the mystery woman (who doesn't leave her name) is cut short as a result.
In the labs, Bernard and Elsie discuss the info they found; Elsie is close to finding the saboteur because the data was time-stamped. She looks forward to a title bump and a new office-- perhaps Theresa's. Bernard isn't so sure.
7. What does Bernard find in Sector 17?

Answer: A family of hosts

Bernard heads to the control room to find Theresa in her office. Instead of heading up he asks about the sector he'd previously inquired about-- Sector 17-- and discovers that no one has been in the area since it's been cordoned off for future narrative development.

He decides to visit it on his own. In Sector 17 he finds an oddly well-made house and a family inside making dinner, but when they become aware of his presence, they quickly turn on him for trespassing. The father believes that it was his son-- a British boy who had been seen in the park before-- who befriended Bernard. Bernard tries to stop them from functioning, but they don't cease their aggression until Ford himself emerges and stops them. All of these hosts, he explains, are first-generation, and he maintains them himself.

There are only a few left in the park that he doesn't have the heart to destroy, and these ones are ones that Arnold created for him as a memory from his childhood. Ford asks Bernard not to discuss these particular hosts unless with him.
8. A man in the soldier's encampment has a metal brand for livestock. What is the symbol it creates?

Answer: The maze

The control room is interrupted from their tasks when Lee returns to work completely drunk, ready to urinate on the giant Westworld map from the offices above. He's only stopped when Theresa introduces him to the woman from the bar, Charlotte Hale, who's there to oversee administrative changes for the foreseeable future as dictated by the board.
Bernard looks into the logs of the eighty-two first-generation hosts still in the park and scans through the forty-seven created by Arnold. One of them is Dolores.
At the soldier encampment, Teddy and the Man in Black find themselves tied to a wagon and as a man approaches Teddy with a brand of the maze, he reveals that he's untied his ropes and fights back. Soon, he and the Man and Black are wiping out the entire camp. Teddy hops behind a gatling gun and kills the entire camp to prevent them from following.
9. Elsie, looking into the satellite transmitter, discovers that who is likely behind the shady information transmission in the park?

Answer: Theresa

In the woods, Ford takes a stroll to spend time with his first-generation child. There, he finds that their dog has died.
Bernard, still poring over the records, gets a call from Elsie and she says that the satellite transmitting to the woodcutter was sending broadcast voices from a Delos satellite. In other words, it was coming from the park. She tracks a transmitter to an abandoned theatre in Sector 3 and heads out alone to find it. When she arrives, she finds a room filled with old, unused props. The relay, she finds, is in an old wooden crate. She begins searching through its previous users.
Theresa, in her apartment, is met by Bernard who tells her the truth about the anomalies. She lets him in as a call comes in from Elsie. He doesn't pick it up. Bernard says that he always trusted Ford, but there's been some concerns. When Elsie calls a second time, he picks up and she reveals that Theresa is likely the one responsible for the leaks.
10. Maeve ends up making changes to her personality coding. Which facet of her personality does she not alter?

Answer: Determination

Felix shows Maeve her code base while his partner, Sylvester, angrily allows everything to be said. The matrix of her personality shows her exactly how she was programmed to think and she insists that she would like to make some alterations. Though Sylvester says it can't be done, she gleans, from their previous discussions, that it can certainly be done with no trace, and that if he doesn't do it, she can blackmail him with his seedy dealings in the lab.
Bernard, heading to his apartment, calls Elsie back. While Theresa was using the old bicameral system to reprogram the woodcutter, someone else was also using the system to reprogram hosts-- a lot of the older models. They're changing narrative loops and even allowing the hosts to lie to lab techs. As far as she can tell, Arnold has been doing it, but he's dead. She says she'll bring him the data before hanging up.
Ford brings his boy, Robert, and the dog to his lab he asks the boy if he's lying about the dead dog. He finds that Robert had actually killed the dog; someone told him to put it out of its misery. It was Arnold's voice.
As Elsie unearths something in the code in the theater, she realizes that she's not alone. Someone grabs her from behind.
In the lab, Maeve lowers her loyalty and pain attributes. Her paranoia and self-preservation attributes, however, have already been tampered with by someone with more clearance. Finally, Maeve has the techs raise her bulk apperception to the top of the chart.
