"The Amazing Race 20" [5] Trivia Quiz

Answer: Cochin

Heading out from the eighth Pit Stop of the race looking out at Lake Manyara in Tanzania, teams were told to head to the airport in Kilimanjaro to fly nearly three thousand miles to the city of Cochin, India on the country's western coast. When they arrived at this location, they needed to head to the Rajiv Gandhi Municipal Bus Terminal where they would take a bus to the town of Thevara.

When they finally located Sacred Heart College, they could find their next clue there.

Answer: Dave

When they arrived at Sacred Heart College, the five teams encountered the Road Block for this leg of the race. For this, they needed to wear Bollywood clothing and learn an intricate routine with a troupe of back-up dancers until they were satisfied that they knew it well enough to perform.

They then needed to take to the stage and perform it to the satisfaction of the head dance choreographer in order to continue on in the race. For some racers, this took dozens of attempts in the blazing heat.

The task was completed by Rachel, Rachel, Vanessa, JJ, and Mark.

Answer: Cricket

Heading out from the Road Block, teams made their way back to Cochin to find a clue at the Indian Coffee House. This clue, the Detour, would be handed to them by the owner of the cafe. For this Detour, teams chose either 'Cricket' or 'Clutch It'. In 'Cricket', Brendon and Rachel and Art and JJ needed to go to Dr. Ambedkar Stadium and hit a ball pitched by a professional player across a boundary line to receive their next clue. Each member of the team needed to properly hit the ball over to complete the task.

Answer: Auto rickshaw

Those opting not to complete 'Cricket' headed to the A2Z Driving School in Cochin to complete 'Clutch It'. For this task, the participants needed to hop into an auto rickshaw and learn from an instructor about how to drive it through a local training course.

When both team members successfully made it through the course while avoiding all of the obstacles they were able to move on with the race. Rachel and Dave, Vanessa and Ralph, and Bopper and Mark all decided to complete this task.

Answer: Bopper and Mark

After the Detour, teams were told to make their way by taxi to the ninth Pit Stop of the race, the Dutch-built Bolgatty Palace in Cochin. Rachel and Dave were the first to arrive in this leg of the race taking their fifth victory in total. This time they won a trip for two (courtesy of Travelocity) to Saint Lucia.

In the end, after an exhausting Bollywood-themed Road Block and the threat of quitting, Bopper and Mark stepped on the mat in last place. They were, however, spared from elimination in this last of three non-elimination legs.

Answer: A tiger

Departing from Bolgatty Palace in Cochin in Leg 10, teams needed to take a ride to Daiva Vili Bhagvathi Kshetram in the town of Chandiroor, India. Upon their arrival, the teams received a blessing from a local priest. Bopper and Mark, who placed last in Leg 9, ended up completing their Speed Bump nearby.

This required that they paint the stomach of a Puli Kali dancer with the image of a tiger's face to match others in the area. When they completed the image to the dancer's satisfaction they could continue on with the race.

Answer: Bopper and Mark

After receiving their blessings at Daiva Vili Bhagvathi Kshetram, teams had the opportunity to complete the final Fast Forward of the race. This Fast Forward also happened to be a Switchback, recalling the events of a Fast Forward from the seventh season of the show (completed by Uchenna and Joyce). For this task, the participating team needed to go to the Mutharamman Devasthanam Hindu temple in Kuthiathodu to complete an Indian ritual of good luck...involving the shaving of the participants' heads. Bopper and Mark completed this Fast Forward in an attempt to gain time on the leading teams.

Answer: Coconut husks

Heading out from Daiva Vili Bhagvathi Kshetram, teams needed to travel to the village of Pattanakkad. Upon arriving, they found their Road Block clue at Pattanacaud Coir Mats and Matting building. This task required that the participants use coconut husks to spin rope to a length of forty feet.

When this had been done successfully, they also needed to use a spooling machine to create four rolls of rope before they could receive their next clue. This was performed by Ralph, Dave, Art, and Brendon.

Answer: Ginger

After the Road Block, teams traveled to the ancient tree in Fort Kochi to find a barber who would give them their Detour task, a choice between 'Pachyderm' and 'Pack a Box'. 'Pachyderm', completed by Brendon and Rachel, Rachel and Dave, and Ralph and Vanessa, involved decorating Indian elephants before shoveling fifteen wheelbarrows of manure into the back of a truck. Art and JJ instead went with 'Pack a Box', a task which required that they sift through enough ginger to fill ten crates, pack them up, and stencil labels on the correct sides of each.

Answer: Bopper and Mark

After the Detour task, teams needed to proceed (partially by ferry) to the island of Vypin to find the Cheena vala Fishing Nets across the river. Here, they could step on the mat and head to their tenth Pit Stop. Rachel and Dave maintained their lead throughout the leg and returned to a first place finish (their second consecutively and their sixth altogether) taking with them $10,000 each.

At the end of the leg, despite finishing the Fast Forward task without hesitation, Bopper and Mark could not recover from the deficit experienced in Leg 9.

They were eliminated from the race.
