Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Leg 9, teams flew to Regina, Saskatchewan.

Answer: True

Leaving the Miraflores Locks in Panama City, Panama, teams flew back to Canada, heading to Toronto and ending up in their next destination city: Regina, Saskatchewan. Upon arriving, teams found a clue in their marked Chevrolet vehicles directing them to Douglas Park Elementary School in Regina where each duo had to serve children fresh orange juice as part of a wish from Bank of Montreal customer to give the children healthier meals.

When all kids in their group were given their beverage, they could drive onward to the Aulie Family Farm in Redburn.
2. The Detour in Saskatchewan in Leg 10 forced teams to choose between 'The Horse' and what other option?

Answer: 'The Cart'

In Redburn, Karen and Bert found their Speed Bump task directing them to the barn to clean a horse's stable. All other teams dug into their Detour task, a choice between 'The Horse' and 'The Cart'. In 'The Horse', teams had to take part in a horse auction with one racer becoming an auctioneer and the other calling from the crowd. If they could follow the etiquette properly and auction off a horse, they could receive their next clue.

In 'The Cart', teams instead moved and managed a grain auger, using it to transport one thousand kilograms of canola seed into a cart.

This was a Canada 150 Challenge. Sam and Paul, Adam and Andrea, and Karen and Bert put 'The Cart' before 'The Horse' while Korey and Ivana and Kenneth and Ryan bid on 'The Horse' first.
3. Which team neither used the Double U-Turn in Leg 9, nor ended up on the receiving end?

Answer: Karen and Bert

Completing the Detour teams needed to drive themselves to Rouleau, Saskatchewan to find the Dog River Hotel, a location made famous by the long-running CTV comedy show "Corner Gas". Upon arriving in the parking lot they could come face-to-face with the final Double U-Turn of the competition. Kenneth and Ryan, first to arrive, exacted revenge by U-Turning Sam and Paul while Korey and Ivana snuck ahead to U-Turn Adam and Andrea. Both U-Turned teams had to return to the Detour to complete 'The Horse'. After this, teams continued to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to build a maple leaf (as per a photograph) using cans of Campbell's Chunky Soup.

When they had a stable maple leaf, they got their next task.
4. During the ninth leg of the race, teams had to work with which of these during the Road Block in Saskatchewan?

Answer: Bees

Teams eventually had to drive themselves tot he town of Caron to find Grandpa's Garden, an apiary west of Moose Jaw. There, they found a Road Block task suggesting that someone be chosen if they think 'it's good to be the queen'. For this task, the selected team member (Kenneth, Bert, Sam, Ivana, and Andrea) needed to search through provided honeycombs wearing full bee suits to find the one bee of each hive that was the queen. If they found the one bee, they got their next clue.
5. Which team was eliminated from the race in Leg 9?

Answer: Adam and Andrea

After completing their Road Block, teams needed to drive to the Armed Forces runway at the 15 Wing Moose Jaw Base in Bushell Park. There, on the runway at hangar seven, teams found the ninth Pit Stop of the race. Sam and Paul once again checked in in first place (for their third consecutive win and fourth overall), this time despite being U-Turned.

They ended up winning a trip for two to Costa Rica. On the other side of things, Adam and Andrea, the other U-Turned team, couldn't make up the ground and found themselves eliminated from the race.
6. In Leg 10, teams headed to Sault Ste. Marie, a city in which province?

Answer: Ontario

The beginning of Leg 10 saw the final four teams ripping open their clues in Regina, Saskatchewan's Victoria Park. Their next destination, as they learned, was Sault Ste. Marie, part of the Canadian Shiled between Lake Superior and Lake Huron. Upon landing, they needed to catch a ride on the train at the Agawa Canyon Railway and participate in a Canada 150 Challenge, memorizing the names of fourteen paintings by the Group of Seven based on critiques of the works and identifying them in another car. If they got them right, they could disembark at the next stop or, else, take another trip around on the tracks.
7. During the Detour in Leg 10 (in Sault Ste. Marie), teams could choose to work with which animals?

Answer: Alpacas

After riding the rails, teams found the final Detour task of the race, a choice between 'Alpac-It' and 'I'll Cast It'. Sam and Paul and Kenneth and Ryan completed the former task, which involved heading to a local farm and taking a couple of alpacas on an obstacle course. If they could beat the clock and make it to the end without knocking over any obstacles they could get their clue. Karen and Bert and Korey and Ivana completed 'I'll Cast It' instead, in which they headed out into a lake and, once waist-deep, tested their fly-fishing prowess by casting into three marked targets.
8. The Face Off in Leg 10 forced players to go head to head in which game?

Answer: Crokicurl

The second of two Face Offs of the race, teams found this task after their Detour in Leg 10, heading to the John Rhodes Community Centre Pool to go head-to-head in a unique game of Crokicurl combining the rocks-on-ice aspect of curling with the rules of crokinole.

The team that ended the game with the most points would be able to continue while the losing team would play against the next in line. The last team overall would need to wait out a predetermined amount of time before continuing with the race.
9. In Leg 10 in Sault Ste. Marie, team members completing the Road Block needed to be covered in cockroaches.

Answer: False

After the Face Off, teams headed to Entomica in Sault Ste. Marie for a creepy crawlie Road Block. The clue asked for 'who would be counting on their partner' and it was a bit misleading. The selected team members (Sam, Ivana, Kenneth, and Karen) had to count cockroaches, but there would be four types of roaches to count out and they would all be crawling on their partner's head in a plexiglass case.

When they got the proper numbers for each species, they would get their clue.
10. Which team was eliminated from the race in Leg 10, becoming the last team to be left out of the finals?

Answer: Karen and Bert

After the Road Block, teams were told to drive themselves to the final Pit Stop of the race, a definite elimination point-- Topsail Island in Bellevue Park in Sault Ste. Marie. Sam and Paul won their fourth consecutive leg of the race by staying ahead of the pack during the visit to Sault Ste. Marie.

It was their fifth win overall, and for this occasion they won a trip for two to Cape Town, South Africa. In the end, Karen and Bert, the last to leave the Face Off, struggled through the bug task and wound up being the last to hit the mat.

They became the final eliminated team.
11. What was the teams' final destination city in Leg 11?

Answer: Quebec City

In the final leg of the race, teams flew from Sault Ste. Marie to the last city of their adventure-- Quebec City, Quebec. Upon landing at Québec City's Jean Lesage International Airport, they needed to search the outside of the building to find a clue box awaiting them outside the airport control tower.

This was the teams' first Road Block task, and when they located it they were able to head to Montmorency Falls to commence it.
12. For the first Road Block of Leg 11, team members had to climb which of these?

Answer: Cargo net

Arriving at Montmorency Falls, team members chosen for the task (Paul, Ryan, and Korey) needed to climb in front of the falls on a cargo net to collect their clue dangling below. When they climbed back up with it, they could continue on to Place de Bordeaux in Saint-Roch where one team member would act as dispatch and the other would be a bicycle rickshaw driver, picking up and delivering three passengers to their destinations.

When they received receipts from each they could give them over for their next clue.

After this, a quick trip to the Carnaval de Québec Warehouse to visit Bonhomme and search for a box of chocolates was in order.
13. Teams' second Road Block clue (in the final leg of the race) was found in which of these?

Answer: A chocolate egg

Teams located their boxes of chocolate (wrapped in red and yellow race ribbon) and needed to use them to identify their next destination, Érico Chocolatier. Upon arriving there, they could trade their clue for a chocolate egg containing their second Road Block task. For this one, the team member who didn't participate in the first task needed to use a mechanical ascender to climb 31 storeys up the side of Édifice Marie-Guyart, Quebec City's tallest building.

At the top, they needed to keep their eyes peeled for race colours on another building-- the Morrin Centre-- and navigate their way to it. Sam, Kenneth, and Ivana completed this Road Block.
14. For their memory challenge, teams needed to complete a puzzle and mark which of these on it?

Answer: Their Canada 150 Challenges

Reaching the Morrin Center, teams were let into the library for one final task, this one involving a difficult hundred-and-fifty piece puzzle that needed to be constructed on a tabletop. When this puzzle of Canada was completed, the teams then had to place the six Canada 150 Challenges onto the map in the proper spots (though they would be given ten such challenges with four being fakes) to get their final clue to send them to the Finish Line.
15. Which team won "The Amazing Race Canada 5"?

Answer: Sam and Paul

After completing the puzzle, the teams were told to rush to the Finish Line at Parc des Ancêtres on L'Île d'Orléans in Quebec City. In the end it was Sam and Paul who stayed ahead of the pack. After winning five legs of the race they also ended up winning the whole thing, crossing the Finish Line first to take home the $250,000 grand prize, a trip for two around the world, and two 'True North Edition' 2018 Chevrolet Equinoxes.

They were followed by Kenneth and Ryan in second place and Korey and Ivana in third to close out the race.
