Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Professor Proton did a fun science show at Sheldon and Leonard's apartment in season six, what part particularly amazed Penny?

Answer: Potato clock

Professor Proton, played by Bob Newhart, first appeared in the episode "The Proton Resurgence". He was a children's TV performer who had a show when Sheldon and Leonard were kids and they both loved him. They found out he could be hired to do private parties, and Sheldon hired him to come over to the apartment.

He did a few experiments with Sheldon, Leonard and Penny; Sheldon and Leonard were of course both familiar with all the 'tricks' Professor Proton could perform and the science behind them, but Penny learned many new things. When Sheldon asked Professor Proton to "do potato clock", they explained to Penny that Professor Proton could power a clock with a potato. Penny couldn't believe it. A bit later, the Professor experienced a problem with his pacemaker, and Penny asked if the potato might be of use.

Bob Newhart reprised his role as Professor Proton, a.k.a. Arthur Jeffries, in a few more episodes; the character died in season 7, but reappeared in season 9 as an apparition to Sheldon.
2. Howard invented a little game to annoy Raj called 'Emily or ______'. What completes the name of the game?

Answer: Cinnamon

Cinnamon is Raj's Yorkshire Terrier, given to him by Howard and Bernadette in season 5 in "The Transporter Malfunction" when Raj was depressed about his love life. Raj spoils Cinnamon to death and loves her a lot. Emily started dating Raj in season seven.

Howard came up with 'Emily or Cinnamon' in season eight's "The Anxiety Optimization". The premise was simple - Howard recited a direct quote he'd heard Raj say, and the others had to guess whether Raj originally said that to his girlfriend Emily or his dog Cinnamon. Some of the quotes included "It's just so perfect that we're both Libras" (that was to Cinnamon), "I want you to know, the bed feels so lonely when you're not in it" (also Cinnamon), and "A man can care deeply about a woman and a pet - it's not strange" (that one was to Emily).
3. In season nine, Sheldon and Amy's relationship was finally taken to the next level and they had sex. What event did Sheldon miss out on to be with Amy that night instead?

Answer: The premiere of the new "Star Wars" movie

In "The Opening Night Excitation", Amy's birthday coincided with opening night of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". The guys planned to go to the movie, but Sheldon decided being with Amy on her birthday was more important. When asked about his plans for a birthday gift for her, Sheldon shocked Penny and Bernadette when he told them he planned to "have coitus" with Amy. In a major event in their relationship, they went through with it. Sheldon ended up enjoying it and said he would like to do it again on Amy's next birthday.

Meanwhile, Leonard, Howard and Raj went to the "Star Wars" movie with Wil Wheaton, who showed up dressed in a "Star Trek" costume.
4. In season six's "The Santa Simulation", the guys played a Christmas-themed version of what game?

Answer: Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeon-master Leonard created a Christmas-themed plot for the guys' game of "Dungeons & Dragons" in this episode. The premise was that they had to save Santa from ogres. Sheldon was chagrined because he hates Christmas, but they played the game.

Sheldon did well, figuring out at one stage that he needed to sing the Christmas carol "Good King Wenceslas", and he knew all the words. At the end though, as the gang was about to save Santa, Sheldon turned on them and threw away the keys needed to free Santa, leaving him to die. Sheldon explained that he hated Santa because when he was young, he asked Santa to bring back his recently-passed Pop-Pop for Christmas, and of course that didn't happen.

Raj's character died in the opening seconds of the game, so he left and went out with Penny, Amy and Bernadette for girls' night.
5. During a girls' night at Penny's apartment in season 8, Penny, Amy and Bernadette dug up embarrassing stuff about each other online. First they watched the low budget horror movie Penny starred in about a killer gorilla, then a beauty pageant that Bernadette participated in as a teenager. What did they find of Amy's?

Answer: "Little House on the Prairie" fan fiction

In "The Troll Manifestation", Bernadette was embarrassed after they saw the video of her competing for Miss California Quiznos 1999, and to deflect the focus away from that, she revealed that she knew that Amy wrote "Little House on the Prairie" fan fiction and posted it online. Amy didn't want them to read it and refused to show them, but Penny found it quickly by Googling. It turned out the stories featured characters based on Amy and Sheldon - a 19th century woman named Amelia and her love interest, a time-traveling physicist named Cooper.

Penny and Bernadette ended up getting into the story, and Leonard was amused by it too when Penny read it to him later. They quickly stopped reading when they came upon a sex scene, though.
6. What piece of furniture did Leonard and Sheldon squabble over in a season seven episode?

Answer: A dining room table

In "The Table Polarization", Leonard and Penny thought it would be nice to get a dining room table for the apartment after Bernadette suggested it, so they could stop eating around the coffee table and everyone would have a proper place to sit. Sheldon was very much opposed to this idea, especially because Leonard wanted to put the table over by the window where Sheldon's old Windows 98 computer was set up.

Leonard went ahead and picked out a table with Penny. Sheldon refused to eat at it, and Amy took his side. They ate alone on the couch while the others were all sitting at the table, until everyone felt guilty and rejoined Sheldon and Amy in the living room.
7. Sheldon often makes a hot beverage for someone who is upset, even when they don't want one. In the sixth season episode "The Cooper/Kripke Inversion", what did we find out is Sheldon's preferred beverage for when he is "angrier than ever and filled with despair"?

Answer: Hot apple cider with cinnamon sticks

In this episode, the university was forcing Sheldon to work with his rival, Barry Kripke. Sheldon was not happy about it, and as Penny and Leonard were returning home from a movie, they heard Darth Vader's theme music "The Imperial March" from "Star Wars" coming from the guys' apartment. Leonard explained that it was Sheldon's "I'm unhappy and about to destroy the planet" music.

When they entered the apartment, Penny offered to make Sheldon tea. Sheldon said that tea was for when he was upset and he was not merely upset, he was outraged. Leonard correctly guessed that cocoa is the necessary beverage for when Sheldon is outraged, but then Sheldon expanded his feelings to "angrier than ever and filled with despair". When Penny asked what drink you make for that, Leonard got it right again - hot apple cider with cinnamon sticks.
8. In the season eight finale, Leonard and Penny eloped to Las Vegas after being pressured to set a wedding date. In the first episode of season nine, their wedding ceremony was seen by some of their friends via livestreaming on the internet. What song from an animated movie did Penny quote as her vows?

Answer: You've Got a Friend in Me

In "The Matrimonial Momentum", as the officiant at their Vegas chapel wedding asked if they'd written their own vows, Leonard said that he had, taking Penny by surprise; she hadn't prepared anything.

On the spot, Penny said: "You're not only the love of my life, you're my best friend and.. you've got a friend in me. If you've got troubles, I got 'em too. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you. We stick together and can see it through, 'cause you've got a friend in me". The officiant asked if that was from "Toy Story". Penny said that Leonard loved "Toy Story", and, tearing up, he confirmed.
9. In a season eight episode, the guys met a doctor client of Penny's who had a crush on her. What initially impressed the guys about the doctor?

Answer: He was a urologist who had famous clients.

In "The Misinterpretation Agitation", Dr. Lorvis showed up at the apartment building with flowers for Penny. Penny had begun working as a pharmaceutical sales rep, and he was one her clients. In the interest of making good sales, she was pretty friendly with him, and Dr. Lorvis developed a crush on her and came to visit her to make a move.

Sheldon told Leonard Dr. Lorvis was at Penny's door (she wasn't home) and Leonard intercepted him and explained he was Penny's fiance. Dr. Lorvis understood but was a bit dejected, so Sheldon insisted he come in for a hot beverage. While talking, the guys were excited to find out that Dr. Lorvis was, as he put it, "the doctor to the stars' urinary tracts", and that he'd given Gene Roddenberry a vasectomy and had James Cameron's kidney stone with him. They later went to the doctor's house where they discovered he had tons of cool stuff, like vintage games and movie memorabilia.
10. In season seven's "The Indecision Amalgamation", what terribly difficult decision was Sheldon trying to make?

Answer: Whether to get a PS4 or an XBox One

Sheldon really struggled with this decision. At the beginning of the episode, he was suffering while avoiding using the bathroom because he said that people with full bladders make better decisions. He still couldn't decide, and couldn't hold out any longer. He considered several important factors while mulling over the decision. For example he liked that PlayStation first put out the Playstation or PS1, then the PS2, followed by the PS3 then PS4; he thought this made far more sense than the XBox being followed by the Xbox 360, and then the Xbox One.

Towards the end of the episode, Sheldon and Amy went to the store, with Sheldon claiming to have made a firm decision on which gaming system he wanted, but once they were there, he started waffling again. They ended up being there until closing time, and he still didn't decide.
