Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the very first episode of 'The Comic Strip Presents' called?

Answer: 'Five Go Mad in Dorset'

This, the first episode, was shown on 2nd November, 1982. It was a parody of the 'Famous Five' books. It starred Adrian Edmondson as Dick, Peter Richardson as Julian, Dawn French as George and Jennifer Saunders as Anne.
2. Who are the four members of the band 'Bad News'?

Answer: Vim, Colin, Spider, Den

Vim Fuego (Ade Edmondson) plays lead guitar and sings, Colin Grigson (Rik Mayall) plays bass guitar, Spider Webb (Peter Richardson) plays drums, and Den Dennis (Nigel Planer) plays rhythm guitar. Together they are 'Bad News', possibly the worst heavy metal band in the world!
3. Who played the 'Dreamytime Escorts' in the episode 'Mr. Jolly Lives Next Door'?

Answer: Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson

The episode is my personal favourite, and is all about two useless escorts who end up getting involved in a plot to kill Nicholas Parsons. There are elements of 'The Dangerous Brothers' (characters Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson created earlier for the Comic Strip club and the show 'Saturday Live') in the Dreamytime Escorts, making the episode manic, loud and hilarious!
4. Which of these Comic Strip members was NOT in 'The Supergrass'?

Answer: Rik Mayall

'The Supergrass' was a Comic Strip film all about a young man called Dennis, who accidentally gets involved in a drug smuggling plot whilst trying to impress a girl.
5. Which episode involved a soup recipe, the devil, a number one hit record, Sid Vicious and Genghis Khan?

Answer: 'Demonella'

The episode had Jennifer Saunders playing the devil, who gives a struggling record producer a hit record, plenty of cash and plenty of fame all in exchange for a soup recipe, so she can impress her 'guests' in hell!
6. Who wrote the episode 'A Fistful of Travellers' Cheques'?

Answer: Rik Mayall, Peter Richardson and Pete Richens

Another brilliant episode that involves lots of shooting, spitting, talking in a deep voice and fighting. It was first aired on 21st January, 1984.
7. What is the name of the American general (played by Rik Mayall) in the episode 'War'?

Answer: Erwin

Daniel Peacock played the 'hero' of the episode, searching for his girlfriend during a terrible war in the mid-eighties.
8. In the episode 'Summer School', what type of animal was stolen from the Animal Husbandry unit for the group to eat?

Answer: Rabbits

This episode was aired on 31st January 1983, and was written by Dawn French.
9. Who wrote and directed the episode 'Private Enterprise'?

Answer: Adrian Edmondson

This episode involved a petty criminal (played by Peter Richardson) stealing a demo tape by a new wave pop group and getting it sold and released without involving the band at all, with complicated consequences.
10. What year was the Comic Strip film 'Eat The Rich' released?

Answer: 1987

The film starred most of the cast of 'The Comic Strip', and Motorhead released the song 'Eat The Rich' especially for the film.
