The episode opens with Kirsten trying to place an order for food. The other household members keep calling out special orders so that by the time she's finished, she's ordered a ton of food. Seth goes to The Bait Shop to ask Alex over and she says that she'd love to but will have to do it another time since her ex is in town. Alex says it may be best if Seth stays away so that she has time to work things out. Seth leaves, feeling hurt.

Then Alex's ex, Jodie (a girl), comes out and kisses Alex.

Ryan and Lindsay run into Marissa at school. Marissa is dressed fashionably (as always) and Lindsay confesses to Ryan that while she's not jealous of Marissa, she does feel self-conscious around her. She hadn't realized that they'd been together for that long. He asks her out to a celebratory dinner but we find out later that she's turned him down.

Ryan drops Lindsay off at Marissa's house. Summer hasn't gotten there yet so there are a few awkward moments between Lindsay and Marissa, with Marissa producing a flask of alcohol, which Lindsay refuses. Once Summer arrives, they head over to The Bait Shop where Lindsay changes her mind about the whole sobriety thing.

Sandy gets mad and storms off early and Julie leaves in a cab. This leaves father and daughter at the table. Caleb tells Kirsten that he'll give Julie his support at the meeting not only because Julie is his wife but also since Kirsten seems to support Julie's idea. Kirsten thinks that's a good idea but for her marriage's sake, she'll support Sandy.

When the boys arrive at The Bait Shop, they go their separate ways to check on their respective girlfriends. Zach finds Summer standing with Matt Miller, who Zach claims will hit on any girl. He gets upset and storms out.

Ryan and Lindsay go down to the water's edge for Lindsay to get some fresh air. She mentions wanting to go swimming but Ryan turns down that suggestion and goes to get her some food. When he returns, he finds a shoe and her handbag and jumps to the conclusion that she decided to go swimming alone.

He runs into the ocean and frantically searches for her before Seth calls out that Lindsay's inside Alex's office, passed out. Ryan is furious and takes out his anger on Marissa, saying that she's trying to drag Lindsay down with her like she did to him the year before. Alex defends Marissa and tells Ryan to leave, promising she'll take care of Lindsay.

Summer leaves The Bait Shop and ends up in a nearby diner. She sees Zach sitting alone and joins him. She explains that after her dramatic relationship with Seth, she really needs to just take things slower. Zach agrees and they share a milkshake.

Kirsten returns home from dinner to find Sandy sitting on couch, watching an old horror movie. She tells him that she will be supporting him at the board meeting. Sandy brushes the whole thing off, saying that Julie's idea wasn't a bad one.
