These words are spoken by Blanche at the very beginning of this episode, as she awaits the arrival of her sister, Virginia. Clearly stressed at the prospect of having Virginia visit her in Miami, Blanche can be seen barking orders at Rose, before then searching for a place to put an enormous vase of flowers. Blanche then reveals to Rose that she hates her sister with a passion, insisting that Virginia has made her and their older sister Charmaine miserable their entire lives. To emphasise this point further, Blanche even exclaims, "God I wish she wasn't coming. I just hate her!"

Though any of the four possible answers could feasibly have been uttered by Sophia, only one is actually said by her. Unable to understand the connection between Blanche's cleaning and her hatred for her sister, at the beginning of this episode Rose turns to Sophia for help, asking "If you hated your sister, would you clean the house?" In her typically-deadpan fashion, Sophia promptly responds with "I'd put Vaseline on the tips of her walker." Both women then immediately return to the cleaning tasks they have been set by Blanche, Rose to her dusting and Sophia to spraying air freshener.

Answer: A baby

Just as Blanche is putting the finishing touches to her home, in preparation for her sister's visit, Dorothy enters with a baby. As Rose and Sophia gravitate towards the child, an irate Blanche exclaims "Dorothy, what in the world is that?" Unable to understand Blanche's odd reaction, Dorothy hilariously responds with "It's a flounder, Blanche. What do you think it is?" Still tense, Blanche asks, "What's that baby doing here?" only to be told that the child, whose name is Danny, has to stay with them for a short while, as his parents are at the hospital.

Answer: Blanche

This comical quip comes from Blanche, who is describing being purposefully electrocuted by her younger sister as a child. Indeed as a horrified Rose listens on, Blanche punctuates her words with hilarious actions, as she continues to try to explain why she despises her sister Virginia.

In addition to this, Blanche insists that Virginia always got her in trouble whenever she could, and as she is the youngest, she always got away with it.

This vicious comment is aimed at Blanche's sister Virginia, and Blanche says it on returning to her house with her sister, following a light lunch with her friends. Though Virginia only compliments her older sister's friends and home, Blanche takes every word she says as an insult.

As a result, when Virginia admits that she has lost a "little weight", Blanche seizes the opportunity to insult her, and comes up with the quotation mentioned in the question.

While Dorothy, Sophia and Rose are tending to baby Danny in the middle of the episode, he starts to cry. As Dorothy soothes him, Rose says "It's colic, my children had it. You give them brandy", prompting an amazed Dorothy to exclaim "Rose, you give brandy for teething. You rub it on their gums." Ditzy Rose then says, "Oh, I thought I gave it to them for colic, in their bottles", before remarking "Well my babies were very happy."

Answer: Her sister is dying

After spending much of the episode hurling insults at her sister, Blanche is horrified to discover that Virginia is dying. While the pair are at dinner, Virginia begs Blanche to forget the past and start afresh with her, which makes the latter suspicious that the former wants something from her.

When Virginia finally admits that there is a reason that she is in Miami visiting her sister, a gleeful Blanche exclaims "I knew it! I knew you had a reason. It had better be a good one." However when Virginia then informs her that she is dying, Blanche's face falls and though she tries to maintain her composure, she is clearly devastated by the news.

Answer: Rose

In a moment of comedic genius, mid-way through this episode Rose misunderstands a comment made by Sophia, and wrongly believes that it is Blanche who is dying, rather than Blanche's sister Virginia. Devastated, Rose drops to her knees besides Blanche, and utters the above quotation, before being corrected by Dorothy, who yells "Not Blanche! Her sister!" A relieved Rose then exclaims, "Oh thank God", before coming to her senses and consoling a devastated Blanche.

Answer: A kidney

When Blanche returns from dinner with her sister, not only does she reveal that Virginia is dying, but she also tells the rest of the girls that her sister has asked her for one of her kidneys. As Blanche explains, Virginia is going through renal failure, and her only hope of survival is to receive a kidney transplant.

When Rose points out that Blanche literally holds Virginia's life in her hands, Blanche reveals that she does not know what to do, causing Sophia to chime in with "I'm glad you're not my sister".

Right at the very end of this episode, Blanche reveals that though her blood vessels are too small for her to be able to donate a kidney, Virginia has found an excellent match in a "retired Mormon schoolteacher". She also reveals to the girls that the doctor who examined her will soon be visiting Florida, indicating that they will also be meeting up. An admiring Rose then exclaims, "Wherever she goes she finds a man", prompting Sophia to retort with "So do hookers".
