Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Gilda Radner hosted, she unwisely 'volunteered' to test out one of Dr. Honeydew's inventions. What was it?

Answer: A superglue

The super-powerful glue ended up coating every surface in the Muppet Theater. Gilda was stuck to Beaker for most of the episode. The show ended with the entire cast glued together.
2. When Jean Stapleton hosted, she asked Kermit if she could sing a duet with 'her favorite Muppet.' Kermit is flattered, until she realizes she's not talking about him. What odd Muppet does she sing with?

Answer: Crazy Harry

She sings 'I'm Just Mad about Harry,' as Harry accompanies her on the 'explodaphone' (actually, just a series of detonators).

Jean Stapleton is best remembered for her role as Edith Bunker on 'All in the Family.' Crazy Harry is the wild-eyed, bearded Muppet in charge of special effects (and explosions) at the Muppet Theater.
3. When Alice Cooper hosted, what did he try to steal from Kermit?

Answer: His soul

When Kermit casually mentions how he'd always wanted to be a rock star, Alice produces a contract guaranteeing him fame and riches, in exchange for his soul. Kermit, who was familiar with the story of Dr. Faust, refuses. When Gonzo stumbles upon the contract he's ready to sign, until he suddenly realizes what that would entail.
4. When Loretta Lynn hosted, the theater was being fumigated, and they had to move to an alternate location. Where was it?

Answer: The train station

When Loretta gets off the train, Scooter informs her that they will be performing the show right there. They actually filmed new opening and closing credits at the railroad yard. The production, of course, was plagued with disaster: Fozzie's act was interrupted by a train whistle, Piggy's number was ruined by surly commuters, and Kermit and Gonzo ended up trapped on a train to Columbus.
5. When Danny Kaye hosted, which Muppets stormed out of the theater?

Answer: Statler and Waldorf

During the opening credits, the two critics groan and leave. Danny Kaye later discovers them in the alley, talking about how 'What's-his-name Kaye' was the worst performer ever. When he later confronts them, they tell him they thought someone named 'Manny Kaye' (and his musical clams) was the host. Danny Kaye was actually one of their favorite performers.
6. When Sylvester Stallone hosted, clips of the episode were used in one of his subsequent movies. Which one?

Answer: 'Rocky 3'

There's a brief clip of Stallone on the 'Muppet Show' at the beginning of 'Rocky 3', to establish how Rocky is now more concerned with his celebrity than his performance as a boxer. During the movie, they dubbed over Kermit's voice, so he's introducing Rocky Balboa rather than Sylvester Stallone.
7. When Roger Miller hosted, a strange epidemic hit the Muppet Theater, causing everyone to turn into a certain animal. What was the name of this weird affliction?

Answer: Cluckitis

By the end of the show, everyone except Roger and Gonzo had turned into chickens (much to Gonzo's delight). New closing credits were also filmed, with the band playing the theme as chickens.
8. A recurring sketch was 'Bear on Patrol', starring Fozzie as a police officer. Whose faces were always on the wanted posters at the precinct?

Answer: The band

The wanted posters clearly show Animal, Zoot, Janice, Dr. Teeth and Floyd. Link played the captain, who was mostly interested in paperwork.
9. When Lynn Redgrave hosted, which famous play did the cast perform for the entire episode?

Answer: 'Robin Hood'

Kermit played Robin Hood, Lynn played Maid Marian, Fozzie played Little John, Gonzo played the Sheriff of Nottingham, and Piggy played 'Sister' Tuck.
10. Every episode of this season begins with someone knocking on the guest star's dressing room door and informing them that it's almost curtain time. Who does this?

Answer: Scooter

Before the opening credits, Scooter the gofer would inform the guest that it was thirty seconds till curtain. This would usually be followed by a quick joke about the human trying to deal with the bizarre backstage antics at the Muppet Theater.
