Sharon Leonard is a writer for the NYU paper, and she's planning on writing an article about Jerry for it. In the beginning of the episode, Jerry is trying to contact Sharon at Monk's.

At Monk's Elaine and George pretend that he and Jerry are a gay couple because Sharon is eavesdropping on their conversation. This later puts them in a mess because Sharon thinks they're gay.

At the time, George was climbing the ropes and Jerry was spotting him. When George began slipping on the rope, he fell onto Jerry's head, and they've been friends since that day. George and Jerry are telling stories to Sharon and she ends up thinking that they're homosexuals because of their answers and because of the fake conversation in Monk's.

Kramer ends up being the first in the gang to give Jerry his gift, and it ends up being the exact same gift that Elaine bought for Jerry. Elaine ends up returning the gift and getting a new one. When Jerry tries out the phone for the first time, Sharon ends up finding more evidence that Jerry and George are gay although they really aren't.
