In a humorous open sequence, Seth calls Ryan, telling him to cough twice if he's alone. Ryan responds, "I'm alone." Seth then tells Ryan about how he snuck out the night before and went to Alex's house, going to bed there instead of at home. Ryan is reluctant to cover for Seth but is left with no choice when Seth hangs up on him.

Even though Sandy says, "Happy 19th Anniversary," it is their 20th anniversary. Sandy tries to act like he knew that but he doesn't count the honeymoon year. Kirsten immediately realizes that Sandy forgot their anniversary completely, not just which year it they're celebrating.

Seth has an extra bounce to his step at school but doesn't come out and try to rub it in Summer's face when she and Zach walk up. Summer notices that Seth is in the same clothes as the day before and guesses what Seth has been up to. She tries to act like she's not bothered by this news but walks off in a huff.

Riviera magazine is coming to the Cooper Nichol household to do a photo shoot. Julie is extremely excited about this because she thinks it'll be great exposure and will capture the strength of the Cooper Nichol family. Caleb doesn't want to lie to the public (since he doesn't think they are a model family) and Marissa doesn't want to participate in anything that Julie desires.

We see the two of them discussing the matter early into the episode. Ryan doesn't feel right lying to Kirsten but Lindsay asks that they keep it a secret for just a little while longer, as she and Kirsten are still getting to know one another.

Kirsten is concerned about Seth's rebellious behavior of late. She doesn't want to go away for the weekend and leave Seth alone. Sandy promises that he'll take of the boys and will scare Seth into good behavior. Seth and Ryan come into the room and Sandy grounds them both, Seth for being out all night and Ryan for lying about it.

In this scene Summer reveals why she is so upset by the news of Seth and Alex having sex. She claims she's not jealous but that she always though she and Zach would take that step first and that Seth would catch syphilis in a public toilet. She then complains that their school doesn't teach them anything useful and wonders what is the French translation for "Let's have sex?"

They start out with semi-honorable intentions and end up half naked, making out to Journey's "Open Arms." Ryan has revealed in previous episodes ("The Goodbye Girl" for example) that he is a Journey fan.

Sandy goes to check on Seth and finds him with one leg out of his bedroom window. Kirsten walks in on Ryan and Lindsay kissing on Ryan's bed.

Sandy and Kirsten again discuss the boys' behavior and Kirsten stand firm about not feeling comfortable leaving the boys home alone. Sandy is just as adamant that Seth will not mess up again. At this point, Kirsten is more worried about Ryan and Lindsay than she is with Seth and Alex.

They go downstairs to find Ryan and Seth in the kitchen, surrounded by pancakes. Sandy grounds them even more and says that pancakes won't solve this problem.

When Summer proposes that they take their relationship to the next level, Zach enthusiastically agrees but misinterprets Summer's desire for sex as a desire to meet his family. He tells her that he'll arrange a dinner for that weekend.

Summer meets with Zach's mother and sister (Abigail) for dinner and makes a horrible impression. Abigail is a brilliant world humanitarian and is not impressed with seemingly flaky Summer.

Marissa has asked DJ to be in the photo with her family for Riviera magazine. Julie is furious and refuses to allow DJ to be in the photo. DJ walks off and Marissa refuses to be in the photo if DJ can't. Julie follows DJ to his truck and offers him $5000.00 if he stays away from Marissa. DJ wants no part of it but Julie tells him that Marissa is using him to make Julie mad.

She writes the check, leaving the name section blank (claiming she can't spell his name) and drops the check in his lap.

Marissa arrives at Summer's house to find Summer sitting in her bedroom surrounded by newspapers and watching news on television. Summer confesses that the lunch with Zach's family went worse than Seth's meeting with her father last year. She mentions Kofi Annan and when Marissa asks who that is, Summer answers with the above quote. Kofi Annan is actually the Secretary General of the United Nations.

He, as well as the United Nations in general, had been under fire at the time of this episode because of scandals involving Iraq.

Answer: "Don't Give Up On Me"

Sandy surprises Kirsten with a party at The Bait Shop. He ends up on stage, singing to her and entertaining the rest of the guests. He first sings "Don't Give Up On Me" which we heard earlier in the episode by Solomon Burke. We also heard that song in season one. All of the other characters resolve their issues during this.

The show ends with Sandy singing "She's No Lady, She's My Wife" while most of the cast (Lindsay, Ryan, Kirsten, Seth, Alex, Zach, Marissa and Summer) sway arm-in-arm to the music.
