Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What party is being hosted by Debra?

Answer: Amy's bridal shower

The episode starts out with Amy thanking Debra for throwing her a wonderful bridal shower. When she calls Debra the "best matron of honor ever", Debra asks to not use the word "matron". Though the episode starts out with fun and games, it will quickly grow sour.
2. Why does Marie leave the party?

Answer: Debra tells her that she doesn't need her

As usual, Marie is quick to overstep her boundaries. She starts by bringing and serving excellent food that excites Judy. Debra says that she is going to take care of the food, but Marie insists. Marie thinks there is a lull over the party and tries to control how everything is. Finally, Debra tells her that she doesn't need her.

The entire party goes silent and Marie leaves, but not without saying a 'goodbye' speech meant to guilt-trip Debra.
3. What is Debra doing in her car when the police officer comes to her?

Answer: Sleeping off what she drank and waiting for Raymond

After calling Raymond for help and getting no answer at home, Debra decides to fall asleep. She is sleeping in her car's driver seat with the radio running and the seat reclined back. She is lying sideways with her hands under her head. The officer knocks on the door and asks what she is doing and if she is okay.

Her response is that she had too much to drink and is waiting for her husband to come get her.
4. When does Raymond realize that Debra isn't home?

Answer: When she calls from the jail

When Debra calls home for Raymond to bail her out of jail, Raymond is asleep. He tells Debra to get the phone three times but, of course, she isn't there and doesn't answer it. When Ray answers it and realizes it's his wife on the other end, he realizes that she isn't asleep next to him.
5. Why does Debra believe she is not guilty of a DUI (Driving under the influence)?

Answer: There was no "D"

Debra tells this to the cop that is leading her to her cell. "How can there be a DUI when there is no "D"?" The cop ignores her and tells her to get in. Debra tells her that it is going to be really embarrassing when "the truth comes out".
6. What does Debra ask the passing police officer for?

Answer: A tissue

While an officer walks past the cell, Debra calls out and asks for a tissue. The cop ignores her completely. She repeats herself, more angrily. When another cop leads another woman to the cell, Debra wipes her nose on her arm and says that she's an animal. The other arrestee tells the officer that she doesn't want to be in there.
7. What is the state law concerning DUI?

Answer: If the keys are in the car and it is running, it is a DUI

When Raymond finally shows up at the jail, he asks Debra what happened. She explains and says that the law says: "If the keys are in the car and it is running, it is a DUI". The legal limit in the state of New York, where the show takes place, is 0.08. Raymond then asks how the party was, to which Debra gives him an odd look.
8. Why hadn't Raymond checked the answering machine messages?

Answer: The messages are normally for Debra

Debra tells Raymond that she left him five messages. He claims that he was at Nemo's and the kids wouldn't let him leave the restaurant until he beat the current high score on Pac-Man, which he did. Debra asks why he didn't check the messages when he got back. Raymond's response is "because they're always for you".
9. Why does Robert think that Debra is in jail?

Answer: She finally killed Marie

While Raymond is talking to Debra, who is still in a cell, Robert walks by with another officer and greets them each in turn. Once he realizes who he's greeted, he stops and walks back. He then says, "Oh my God. She finally killed Mom."
10. Why does Debra have to go to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles)?

Answer: To get her license back

After Raymond and Debra get home and deal with Marie's hysteria over the incident, Robert comes over to the house. He tries to cover up what happened so that his mom won't hear, but she obviously already knows. He tells Debra that the charges are dropped, but she still has to go to the DMV.

When Debra asks why, he tells her that she needs to have a hearing to get her license back. For the next six months, Debra has to be driven around to places by Marie. Marie only agrees to drive her if Debra admits that she needs her.
11. What unexpected person shows up at Debra's hearing?

Answer: Marie

Marie shows up right before the hearing is set to start, with Robert and Frank at her heels. The officer who arrested Debra knows Robert and mentions the wedding. Robert then goes into a whole explanation for why the officer wasn't invited to his wedding, only to learn that the officer is joking with him. Marie tries to sit next to Debra, but she is told to go sit in the chairs by the wall. Marie claims, "But I'm the mother-in-law!" Raymond quickly responds with, "It's a hearing, Mom, not a wedding."
12. What does Debra say is proof that she didn't pass out in the car?

Answer: The way she had her hands

Debra says that since her hands were folded under her head, she obviously didn't pass out. If she had passed out, she would have been sprawled out in the car. She doesn't say in words that she would have been sprawled out, but rather pretends to pass out by flailing her arms back. The man in charge of the hearing does not find this amusing.
13. Does Debra get her license back?

Answer: Yes

The man in charge of the hearing says that it might be a good thing that Marie showed up. He now understands the circumstances surrounding the events of Debra's arrest. He says that Debra gets her license back, but she is also on a year of probation. Marie tells Debra, "See? You DO need me."
14. What does the man in charge of the hearing say as he leaves?

Answer: "Good luck to whoever is marrying into this"

Having seen what the Barone family is truly like, the man obviously knows that whoever is marrying into the family (Amy) needs all the luck she can get. He says this as he leaves the room and no one seems to hear him. He does have a point, however.
15. Why does Marie lunge at Debra and make her spill her chocolate mousse on herself?

Answer: She remembers there is brandy in the chocolate mousse

When the family is eating chocolate mousse at the end of the episode, one of the Barones comments on how good it is. Marie then tells them what it is made out of. After saying that she used real brandy, she yells "no!" and lunges at Debra. Debra then gets chocolate mousse all over her green shirt and looks annoyed.
