The father used the boxing gloves throughout the series in times when he was stressed, wanted recreation, or just needed something to keep him from being bored. While all of those were reasons that the gloves were important to him, he placed them in the time capsule with a hope that leaders of the world would use boxing gloves in a boxing ring to work out differences rather than result to war.

The fishing hook had been one of Henry's from when he was the commander at the 4077th. He had left it at the camp when he went home and was discharged. Unfortunately, Henry never made it home because his plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan. BJ had used this hook at times for recreation, but he gave it to the capsule as a representative of all the boys who never made it home from the war like Henry.

While Charles and BJ teased Hawkeye about wanting to do the time capsule out of fun and the chance to spend time with Margaret, Hawkeye really wanted to do it so that he could make it more about who the people really were and less about what the Army really was.

The same day that the time capsule was being created, a pilot came in with a wounded soldier who had been MIA all night. After the pilot came in he had to repair his fan belt in order to fly off and go help out more in the war. When the wounded soldier woke up from surgery, he told the doctors that the fan belt had been shot out while they were flying to the 4077th so the helicopter could only fly 200 yards at a time. Because of that, the pilot had been flying 200 yards at a time in order to get the soldier to the M.A.S.H.

The fan belt in the timeline was from the pilot helicopter, and it was supposed to represent all the brave pilots who risked their lives to help the wounded.

While Klinger and the other gentlemen officers wanted the yellow dress, Margaret only consented to having a dress in the time capsule at all if it was the black one. She thought the yellow one was hideous. The wedding dress was worn by Soon Lee at her wedding to Klinger in the final episode.

While Margaret might have added other things to the time capsule, the only things we are shown is the Army manual, the Army boots, and the Colonel's book. Hawkeye collected the boxing gloves, the fishing hook, the teddy bear, the bottle of booze and Klinger's dress.
