Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The story begins at what time?

Answer: 3 minutes to midnight Christmas Eve

3 seconds to midnight is when the story supposedly ends with Father Mouse finishing the story (after starting from the top) and pacing around his bedroom.
2. What is the name of the boy mouse who wrote the editorial about Santa?

Answer: Albert

Alred is Batman's butler, Alvin is a chipmunk and Asok is from "Dilbert".
3. How was the editorial signed that appeared in the paper?

Answer: All of Us

Junctionville is the town.
4. How did the town find out that Santa was mad at them?

Answer: Their letters to him were returned unopened.

The story was written in 1974 and it took place sometime in the late 1800's (probably to coincide with the date of the poem) so there were no email or malls.
5. What is Mr. Trundle's actual occupation?

Answer: Clock maker

After the clock fails, no one trusts him and they come and claim their clocks that he is working on.
6. Supply the next line of the song. "Christmas chimes are ringing Santa, Santa."

Answer: "Every heart recalling Santa, Santa"

"Christmas chimes are ringing Santa, Santa. Every heart repeating Santa, Santa. Come on old Kris Kringle, down the Milky Way..." is the song that calls to Santa from the clock.
7. When Father Mouse shows his son the effects of his letter about Santa, which of the following is NOT an example shown?

Answer: Toymakers were put out-of-business.

At first, his son's excuse was "These are just kids. Adults don't care" until Father Mouse shows the clock model Mr. Trundle is working on.
8. Who did the voice of Joshua Trundle?

Answer: Joel Grey

George Gobel did the voice of Father Mouse. Burl Ives is from Rudolph. And Mickey Rooney just seemed to be a good one to round out the choices.
9. After the Trundle children state there's really no reason to hang stockings this year, Mr. Trundle breaks into what song?

Answer: "Even a Miracle Needs a Hand"

This show has many catchy songs in it that I find myself humming days after watching it, especially "Even a Miracle Needs a Hand." In the end, they hang their stockings and leave a note for Santa saying they would be happy with whatever he wanted to leave them.
10. What annoying habit does the mayor have?

Answer: He tries unsuccessfully to use big words.

He will try to use big words, which he stumbles overs and finally gives up with a "oh heck with it..." and then uses simple words to get his point across.
