Now deceased, Dr. Bartlet's first name was never given. His physically abusive, "complicated relationship" with his younger son, Jed, still bothered the President from time to time.

Charlie Young's mother's full name was never given. She was shot and killed in the line of duty just a year before Charlie came to work at the White House. At one point, C.J. gave Charlie a gift of a framed picture of young Charlie and his mother in her uniform.

In one episode Matt Santos talked briefly about his parents and mentioned that his mother (Marita) was a domestic servant.

She was only mentioned briefly but is one of the few mothers who we actually learned ANYTHING about. Toby's mother was never mentioned. Josh's mother moved to Florida and bought him stuff for his emergency box but we heard little else. Jed Bartlet's mother was Catholic but beyond that, we learned nothing at all.

The writers of the "West Wing" left us pretty much in the dark about mothers. We know that Charlie's mother was killed in the line of duty and that CJ's stay at home mom was the peacemaker in the family.

But it didn't seem right to have only men in this quiz.

On the night that he was elected, Matt Santos talked briefly about his parents and mentioned that his father was a barber. This really supported Josh's assertion that Matt wasn't just concerned about the typical voter, he WAS the typical voter in a way that most candidates aren't.

While we actually heard very little about either of Matt Santos's parents it seemed only fair to include some of his relatives in the quiz as well.
