Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What projectile knocked Maude Flanders to her death?

Answer: T-shirts

The Simpsons and the Flanders were attending the opening of a new racetrack, and Maude was knocked from the top of the bleachers by t-shirts shot out of an air cannon. In the episode "Alone Again, Natura-Diddily", she was eulogized at the funeral as "a supporting player in our lives" who "didn't grab our attention with memorable catchphrases". Apparently, the voice behind Maude had asked for more money - D'oh!
2. Which character died from licking toxic glue on cheap wedding invitation envelopes?

Answer: Susan Ross

Never one for the direct approach, George Costanza had been trying to break off his engagement to Susan for some time, but his stinginess did the trick - turns out the wedding invitations he purchased had a toxic adhesive on the envelopes. This was "Seinfeld" at its most callous - while still at the hospital after Susan's death, George tries to set up a date with Marisa Tomei -- "I've got the funeral tomorrow, but my weekend is pretty wide open..."
3. By what means did Chuckles the Clown die on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"?

Answer: He was stomped to death by an elephant while dressed as a peanut.

In the "Chuckles Bites the Dust" episode, Mary was horrified by the amusement that Chuckles' death brought to the WJM-TV newsroom. But the nature of his death finally got to her at Chuckles' funeral where she struggled to keep from laughing. As the pastor said, nothing would have made Chuckles happier. Of course, once he pointed that out to her, she started bawling...
4. Hey, it's TV - death doesn't have to be permanent. Which character's death ended up being a bad dream (that lasted an entire season)?

Answer: Bobby Ewing

When we last saw Bobby on "Dallas" in 1985, he was the victim of a hit-and-run car accident. He returned to the show the following season in the famous shower scene - not as shocking as "Psycho" but very surprising nonetheless. Reportedly, only Larry Hagman (J.R.) knew that Bobby was returning.

The scene in the "Blast from the Past" episode was filmed with another actor, and Patrick Duffy (Bobby) was cut into the scene.
5. She had been kidnapped, tortured and raped; she had endured amnesia and a few attempts on her life - all in one day. Which character was killed by her husband's co-worker/ex-lover just when we thought she was safe?

Answer: Teri Bauer

So many deaths to pick from on "24" - certainly David Palmer, Edgar Stiles, Michelle Dessler and even Jack Bauer or Tony Almeida could have been chosen here, but Teri's death at the end of day one was the ultimate shocker. Did anyone see that coming?
6. What caused the death of Rosalind Shays on "L.A. Law"?

Answer: A fall down an elevator shaft

Sometimes bad things really do happen to bad people! Shays was evil, cutthroat, self-centered - and those were her good points. She met her sudden death in the "Good to the Last Drop" episode of "L.A. Law" when she stepped into an elevator that wasn't there.
7. When it comes to gruesome deaths, it is hard to surpass this TV character's demise. Who was struck by lightning, fell down a cliff, was impaled on a branch and then ripped apart by a mountain lion and a bear?

Answer: Chef

Different reasons have been given for the departure of Isaac Hayes (Chef) from "South Park", but the most frequently cited is that he was upset by the episode "Trapped in the Closet", which satirized Scientology. Naturally, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone couldn't let him merely be written off the show, so they mutilated him. He was later resurrected as a cyborg, Darth Chef.
8. On "Cheers", Carla was briefly married to ex-hockey-player Eddie LeBec. By what means did Eddie meet his end?

Answer: He was run over by a Zamboni.

Eddie was working as a penguin in an ice show at the time. "Death Takes a Holiday on Ice" was the episode created to remove actor Jay Thomas, who according to the scriptwriter Ken Levine, had insulted actress Rhea Perlman (Carla) on a radio show. Just to make sure there wasn't any sympathy for Eddie, the writers turned Eddie into a bigamist with both wives meeting at the funeral.
9. Another death that ended up not being permanent... During the original run of "The X-Files", how was C.G.B. Spender (Cancer Man) apparently killed?

Answer: He was blown up by a helicopter missile.

Well, he was apparently killed by the missile - at least, that was the last we saw of him when the show ended in 2002. But in the 2016 reboot of "The X-Files", we found out that he had survived the missile attack. During the original series on an episode called the "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man", we found out that Spender was responsible for most of the evil in the world - he was involved in the Kennedy and King assassinations, and he fixed it so that the Buffalo Bills would never win a Superbowl while he was alive.

His death was necessary...
10. One of the most shocking TV deaths -- how did Henry Blake die?

Answer: His plane was shot down.

A grief-stricken Radar O'Reilly made the announcement: "Lt. Col. Henry Blake's plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan. It spun in. There were no survivors". McLean Stevenson, who played Blake reportedly had asked to be released from his contract to pursue other opportunities, but none of his subsequent work was as successful as "M*A*S*H". Ironically, Stevenson died the day before Roger Bowen who played Henry Blake in the movie "M*A*S*H".
