Tamyra Gray was voted out in the round of 4 remaining contestants. Her ouster also created quite an uproar when Nikki McKibbin beat her out. Tamyra was considered by many as a favorite to win it all. She has since had a successful recording and acting career.

Brian Dunkleman was not a competitor but the co-host in season 1 along with Ryan Seacrest. The producers decided that he would not return.
