Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where did the mail girl die?

Answer: in an elevator

Fellig followed her off the elevator and around the halls. She was clearly uncomfortable by his shadowy presence and got back on the elevator, but he stopped the doors and got on as well. When Fellig saw that the reflections of the other passengers were all in black and white, he pushed the button for the next floor down and got off. Knowing the passengers were all about to die, he ran down the building's stairs to the basement in time to catch the crash of the elevator.

As the doors slid open, the mail girl's hand flopped out onto the basement floor and Fellig snapped his photo.
2. Performing their assigned background checks, what did Mulder joke he and Scully might get assigned to next?

Answer: cleaning toilet bowls

As Scully ended a call, Mulder leaned over and quipped, "Hey, Scully, maybe if we get really lucky next time they'll let us clean toilet bowls." Scully asked if he was ready to quit, but Mulder assured her, "No. That would make way too many people way too happy." After Scully got called up to Kersh's office, Mulder called after her, "Don't forget your toilet brush!"
3. Looking through the back-filed yearly renewal forms, Scully noticed that Fellig didn't seem to be aging in his photographs. Who did Agent Ritter compare Fellig to?

Answer: Dick Clark

Ritter seemed under-impressed by the curious photographs, saying, "The guy's a regular Dick Clark. I don't know what to tell you, Dana. Other than the fact that this guy's always been a geezer, this is looking like a dead end." Luckily, Scully's instincts were better than Ritter's and she followed the lead with Mulder's behind-the-scenes help.
4. What did the mugger steal from the man he was chasing?

Answer: shoes

The guy was running down the street, screaming for help, but his light up sneakers would have made it nearly impossible to escape his pursuer. He ended up in an alley, where the other man stabbed him, then took his sneakers.
5. Where was Fellig stabbed?

Answer: back

As the mugger was leaving his victim, he heard Fellig's camera. Fellig came down the fire escape to get more pictures and the mugger came up behind him. Fellig turned to find himself confronted by the man and his bloody knife, and then the mugger stabbed him repeatedly in the back and left him for dead in the alley. Of course, Fellig wasn't so easy to kill, and he pulled the knife out and went home.

When Scully and Ritter were interviewing him, Scully could tell he was in pain and had him remove his shirt. Both agents were shocked to see the deep wounds all across his upper back.
6. How did the prostitute die?

Answer: hit by truck

Fellig took Scully on a drive at night to show her what he did, and pointed out the hooker, telling Scully that she would die. When a man approached her and started hassling her, Scully got out of the car and apprehended the man, finding a gun on him. With the man handcuffed and in Scully's custody, the woman determined to go elsewhere.

She announced, "I'm out of here" and stepped off the curb into the path of a huge truck, which killed her instantly!
7. Had Fellig ever attempted suicide?

Answer: yes

Fellig told Scully that he took pictures of Death so he could look "into his face. So I can die. Pills don't work. Razors, gas, bridges- I can't tell you how many bridges I've jumped off of. All I get is wet. I got left behind. I don't want to be here anymore. I can't even remember a time when I did. And this... this is all I know to do."
8. How many years did Fellig say was "enough"?

Answer: 75

Scully was struggling to maintain her skepticism about Fellig's story and asked, "How can you have too much life? There's too much to learn, to experience." Fellig told her, "75 years... is enough. Take my word for it. You live forever, sooner or later you start to think about the big thing you're missing and that everybody else gets to find out about but you." Scully asked hopefully, "What about love?" Fellig replied, "What, does that last forever? 40 years ago I drove down to the city hall, down to the hall of records, record archives, whatever they call it. I wanted to look up my wife.

It bothered me I couldn't remember her name. Love lasts... 75 years, if you're lucky. You don't want to be around when it's gone."
9. What was sweeping New York when Fellig had missed his chance with death?

Answer: yellow fever

Fellig explained that he was hospitalized and saw Death snatching other people from their beds. As Death neared him, he looked away, wanting Death to take his caring nurse instead of him. When his fever broke, he was alive and his nurse was being carried out with the dead. He concluded, "Since that time I realized you got to be careful what you wish for. I missed my chance."
10. Did Fellig die?

Answer: yes

He had foreseen Scully's death, and was carrying his camera so as to photograph Death as it came for her. When Ritter opened the curtain to the darkroom, he must have seen the camera and thought it was a weapon, because he shot at Fellig. The bullet went through the camera, through Fellig, and into Scully.

She and Fellig both fell to the floor, and Fellig reached for another camera, looking at her briefly through the lens. He must have recognized his opportunity, though, and gently urged Scully, "Do you see him? Do you see him? Don't look. Close your eyes." When Scully closed her eyes, she changed from black and white to color and Fellig raised his eyes to Death, welcoming his long-awaited end.
