Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the planned community?

Answer: The Falls at Arcadia

It had been a top-rated planned community for five years in a row.
2. What did Dave Klein find freshly painted by his neighbor, Win Shroeder?

Answer: Dave's mailbox

Win defended himself by saying he was trying to be neighborly by bringing Dave's mailbox up to code.
3. Dave Klein received a moving house decoration in the mail. What activated it?

Answer: wind

It was a tiny windmill, which when it spun made a little woodsman chop wood. It was sufficiently tacky to make the Kleins the target of the Ubermenscher.
4. What time was the cut-off for moving in?

Answer: 6 pm

The neighbors informed Scully and Mulder that the cut-off, according to the community regulations, was 6 pm. To help them move in on time, all the neighbors helped.
5. What did Mulder want to have in the driveway that the neighbors said he'd have to talk to Gogolak about?

Answer: basketball hoop

When he went to talk to Gogolak, he was informed that community regulations stated he couldn't have a basketball hoop in the driveway. He ended up putting it up later anyway.
6. Whose idea had it been for Scully and Mulder to go undercover posing as husband and wife?

Answer: Skinner

Though it had been Skinner's idea for them to go undercover, it was apparently Mulder's job to come up with the name, the choice of which Scully was critical of ("Petrie", as in the dish).
7. Where did Mulder find the blood-like substance?

Answer: top of fan blade

The house was immaculate, but Mulder found some splatter on the top of fan blade. It turned out it wasn't blood, though. When Scully got it analyzed in San Diego, she found it was really just garbage.
8. What kind of doctor was Big Mike?

Answer: veterinarian

Mike offered to check out any pet Scully and Mulder were thinking of getting, then reminded them that the community regulations restricted them to no more than 16 pounds of pet.
9. What distressed Mike before he was attacked?

Answer: light bulb in front yard lamp was out

Mike knew that the Ubermenscher would attack him if the light was out, so he rushed outside and replaced the bulb. Unfortunately, Mike wasn't quick enough and was attacked anyway.
10. What did Mulder joke about eating when having dinner at the Shroeder house?

Answer: dolphins

The Shroeders were talking about dolphin-safe tuna and Mulder mentioned dolphins being tasty. The Shroeders looked horrified until Scully and Mulder laughed it off.
11. For what company did Gene Gogolak work?

Answer: Pier 9

He mentioned it when Mulder and Scully were at his house asking about the regulations. It was why he made trips to Nepal and Tibet and had learned to conjure the Ubermenscher.
12. What did Mulder put in his front yard to provoke the neighbors?

Answer: plastic flamingo

He put a pink plastic flamingo in the grass, looked up, and said, "Bring it on." When he got back from getting some orange juice out of the fridge, the flamingo was gone. He went outside and messed up his mailbox and then sat at the window to watch.

However, after drinking all the OJ, he needed to use the restroom. There was a hilarious moment when Mulder was torn between his bladder and not wanting to leave his post; he actually seemed to be considering using the OJ carton to relieve himself! Ultimately, though, he did get up to use the restroom and when he returned, the mailbox was fixed.
13. What was the community built on?

Answer: landfill

Scully thought this explained everything: the garbage splatter, the air pockets in the soil.
14. What excuse did Mulder give his distressed neighbors for digging up the front yard?

Answer: pool

Mulder clarified that it was a reflecting pool (rather than a swimming pool) because reflecting pools were not expressly prohibited by the community regulations book.
15. Scully and Mulder killed the Ubermenscher.

Answer: False

The Ubermenscher attacked Gene Gogolak, whom Mulder had handcuffed to his mailbox. When Gogolak died, the monster disintegrated into dirt.
