Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In this game, you have the chance to win up to $3,000 in the beginning of the game, before even selecting a letter. This is through toss-up rounds. Which game is it?

Answer: Wheel of Fortune

"Wheel of Fortune", hosted by Pat Sajak since 1983, has been a word game where contestants figure out phrases and win prizes. The show was originally hosted by Chuck Woolery in 1981, and temporarily by Alex Trebek
2. In this question game, you have the chance to win $10,000, but there's a twist - you have to avoid the right answer! Which mid-80s game is this?

Answer: Trivia Trap

"Trivia Trap" was hosted by veteran host Bob Eubanks (from "The Newlywed Game"), in which "juniors" (players under 30) and "seniors" (players over 30), uncover correct answers by pinpointing and eliminating wrong ones. The show only lasted for 6 months between 1984-85.
3. In this reincarnation of another famous game, one has the chance to win a car - if they're careful not to hit a certain crimson character. Which 2000s game is this?

Answer: Whammy!

The precursor to "Whammy!" was "Press Your Luck" hosted by Peter Tomarken in the 1980s. While "Press Your Luck" included winning cash, appliances, and vacations, "Whammy!" increased the value of these prizes and introduced a car. This could be won by finding and keeping two halves of a key during the length of the game.
4. In this game, answering 15 (or 14) questions correctly will give you $1,000,000 - don't worry, you'll have lifelines to help you out. This was (uncreatively) named "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?". Which was one of its iconic hosts?

Answer: Regis Philbin

Regis Philbin was the original host of the game (when it aired at night). When the show became syndicated and aired during the day, Terry Crews (along with Meredith Vieira and Cedric the Entertainer) became hosts of the show since 2002.
5. A contestant (usually an adult) has the chance to win $1,000,000 through answering 11 questions, with the help of...elementary school students?! Which game show is this?

Answer: Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?

Hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, adults answered questions ranging by subject and grade levels (1st-5th grades). Five elementary-school students were available to help them (one student for every two questions). However, the adult was on their own to answer the million-dollar question.
6. For this game, you have the chance to win a car, but you have to be savvy with huge playing cards. Which 80s game show is this referencing?

Answer: Card Sharks

"Card Sharks" was a betting game in the 80s, hosted by numerous hosts, including Jim Perry and Bob Eubanks. The show aired in 1978 and its last episode aired in 2001.
7. In this game, you have the chance to win $20,000 by answering survey questions; let's just hope up to 100 people agree with your answers. What long-time game show is referenced here?

Answer: Family Feud

"Family Feud"'s longest serving host was Richard Dawson in the 70s, 80s, and mid-90s. Ray Combs, Richard Karn, Louie Anderson, and John O'Hurley acted as hosts between the 90s and 2010s. Steve Harvey is the current host of the show, since 2010.
8. In this former 2000s game, you have the chance to win $5000 from a noted political and economic commentator. One of the co-hosts was actually Jimmy Kimmel! Who was this person?

Answer: Ben Stein

The game "Win Ben Stein's Money" involved three contestants and Stein himself answering various questions. After two rounds, two contestants were eliminated, and the remaining contestant competed against Stein for $5000. One of the running gags of the game was that if the contestant answered in the form of a question (a la Jeopardy!) they had to wear a dunce cap for the rest of the round.
9. In this game, you have the chance to win $100,000, this time, with a celebrity! What you'll be doing, however is very similar to "verbal charades". What game is this?

Answer: Pyramid

While the host of "Pyramid" has changed over the years (Dick Clark, Donny Osmond, Michael Strahan, etc.), the show always included ordinary contestants and celebrities. The original name was "The $10,000 Pyramid"; that amount has increased to $100,000.
10. In this game, you have the chance to win cash - the exact amount depends on the questions you answer correctly. The quirk of this is that your host is your taxi driver. Which game is this?

Answer: Cash Cab

The original "Cash Cab" was aired on the UK network ITV in 2005. The U.S. spin off (based in Las Vegas, Chicago, and New York City) aired between 2005 and 2012, and was hosted by Ben Bailey (in NYC) and Beth Melewski (in Chicago).
