Amazingly, all four Jokers met while attending Monsignor Farrell High School on Staten Island. When the Jokers attended the school, it was an all-male Catholic school. After high school, the four friends left to go to college. A few years later, Sal ran into Murr on the Staten Island ferry where they started talking about the old days after which they decided to track down "Q" and Joe. The four friends started The Tenderloins, an improvisation stand-up comedy troupe in 1999. After 12 years of hard work and success, truTV aired the pilot of the show "Impractical Jokers" on December 15, 2011.

4. The conversation now turns to the initial success of "Impractical Jokers" and what makes it a special type of reality TV shows. The show has several challenges that all four Jokers must complete in turn. The primary objective of a challenge is usually known ahead of time and often entertaining by itself. However, the real twist that makes the show a success is the earpiece which allows the four Jokers to communicate with each other and give the active Joker extra impromptu things to do or say to strangers while the Joker tries to complete the challenge. What happens if a Joker refuses to do another Joker's request during a challenge?

In this challenge each Joker will take turns being a taxi driver. You will drive a passenger to their desired destination. The passenger is unaware of the hidden camera or upcoming shenanigans. While the Jokers can ask each other to do some crazy things, breaking the law is not one of them. Most of the requests the Jokers ask of each other are designed to make the active Joker look silly, mentally unstable or rude. The Jokers did preform a taxi challenge in episode 1 of season 8. Both Sal and Murr lost the Taxi challenge on the show.

6. The second challenge for the Impractical Jokers to perform is the first ever four-way challenge! In this competition the four Jokers will be sitting in a crowded waiting room together trying their best to make each other laugh. What happens to the Joker who manages not to laugh?

Answer: He gets a thumbs up

The first ever four-way Joker challenge occurred in season 6 episode 7. Like all the Joker challenges, if a Joker successfully completes a challenge, they will get a "thumbs up". In this particular challenge, Joe ended up winning as the other three Jokers had laughed at one embarrassing antic or another. Each of the Jokers will stop at almost nothing to get a laugh and having people in the room who do not realize it is an act makes the silliness all that much funnier.

Once all the challenges for an episode are complete, each Joker has their wins totaled and the Joker with the fewest "thumbs ups" must take part in the Punishment challenge at the end of the show. Punishments are usually much more extreme than the regular challenges and often specifically focused on the losing Joker's fears or dislikes. If more than one Joker ties at the bottom, then all the losers end up being punished. In the first season's finale all four Jokers had to be Punished and their punishment was to give each other haircuts!

7. The third challenge is to convince an absolute stranger to do something they normally would not do. Which of the following Impractical Joker challenges would be off limits?

The challenges always involve the Joker and never involve encouraging two strangers to possibly hurt one another. The other three answers have all been done on the show. The "convincing a stranger they know the Joker" prank has been done frequently. The true humor in the show lies in the awkward position the Joker is placed in and the genuine reaction of the stranger. Once the stunt is complete the stranger is made aware of the stunt and compensated for any loss as well as asked to sign consent and rights to the show.

Sal ends up getting punished frequently. He really does not like anything that could possibly harbor germs or is slimy in texture. All four Jokers frequently struggle when asked to say something that could really hurt a stranger's feelings or make the stranger angry. "Q" struggles the most with saying rude things to strangers. Joe, on the other hand, is more comfortable being shocking so his loses usually come as a result of a head to head challenge where the other Joker preforms a task better.

9. Bad news for you acting as Sal Vulcano! Your challenge performance today was determined to be the worst of the group and so now you will be punished by the other Jokers! At the end of each episode one or more Joker is punished in ways that are often very uncomfortable for the Joker victim. In Sal's case the other Jokers know Sal really hates germs. So, in a low blow they have hidden his cell phone in a bag of trash on a garbage barge! To complete the Punishment, Sal must find his phone by digging through the garbage with his hands! What soundbite from this punishment of Sal is used on the show's title sequence at the beginning of each show?

Answer: "I will never forgive you!"

This Punishment comes from the season two finale episode 16 of "Impractical Jokers". Sal was blindfolded and brought to a garbage barge. When the blindfold was lifted, the other Jokers told him he must find his new cell phone which had been hidden in one of the trash bags and call them to get off the barge. Sal screams "I will never forgive you!" as the barge sails away from the shore. Sal found all kinds of revolting things to pick through before he finally found his phone. If you watch the show from season 3 on, you will hear several soundbites from the four Jokers from actual shows.

10. In the agreement between the Impractical Jokers, what happens if a Joker refuses to do the punishment assigned to them at the end of the show?

Answer: He gets kicked off the show

Being kicked off the show is the actual agreement the Jokers have with each other! High stakes, considering the show's success is very much dependent on the antics of all four Jokers. One of the closest times when a Joker seriously considered not following through with a punishment was in the first episode of season 3 when Murr, who is terrified of heights, was told to sky dive.

In the end, after much complaining, he did indeed jump out of a plane. There have been several other punishments where it was obvious the Joker being punished was miserable - no doubt made worse by the other Jokers' obvious glee.
