Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which class is able to build sentry guns?

Answer: Engineer

The hard-hat wearing, guitar-playing, sentry-building Texan of the game is the good ol' Engineer. His primary function is to build sentry guns and dispensers to aid and assist allies, and make enemies go boom. To build a building, the Engineer needs metal, which he can collect from fallen weapons and dispensers, in addition to the locker in the resupply room. Spies can use their Electro-Sappers to destroy buildings, so it's best to stay on guard when playing an Engineer.
2. Can the Scout double-jump?

Answer: Yes

The Scout is nimble, agile and can dash across the map due to his fast movement speed. The Scout can blast enemies at close range with the scattergun, or whack them with the baseball bat. In a Control Point map, Scouts are particularly useful, as they can capture a point twice as fast as any of the other classes.

However, their low maximum health renders them quite squishy if they get in the way of incoming fire. Double-jumping is another feature of the Scout, and performing one thousand double-jumps will result in the "Batter Up" achievement.
3. Which in-game item was awarded to players purchasing "Team Fortress 2" for Mac OS X when it was first released in June 2010?

Answer: Earbuds

The long wait came to an end on June 10, 2010, when "Team Fortress 2" was finally released on OS X. A new trailer for the game depicting the two teams as Mac versus PC was released as well, plus a special bonus for players purchasing the OS X version of the game during the weekend event.

The bonus was Earbuds - a special miscellaneous item that can be equipped to any class that resemble the iPod earphones. When wearing them, the Earbuds emit small musical notes.
4. Which of these maps is an Arena map?

Answer: Lumberyard

Arena maps are essentially 'last team standing' maps. The goal is to kill every member of the opposing team, or be the first team to capture the centre control point. There are no respawns in Arena maps - once you're killed, you have to wait until either team wins.

There are no lockers for refilling health and ammo in these maps, so there is an increased dependency on Medics and Engineer dispensers for survival. If you are the first person in the match to score a kill, you will be imbued with the "First Blood" buff, which makes all your hits critical for five seconds. Badlands, Granary, Lumberyard, Nucleus, Offblast, Ravine, Sawmill, Watchtower and Well are all Arena maps.
5. Which of these weapons is a primary weapon for the Spy?

Answer: Ambassador

The Ambassador is the replacement for the Revolver. It is similar to the Sniper Rifle, in that its accuracy is the same, even at a long range. You will score a critical hit if you get a headshot with the Ambassador. This is the only way of getting a critical with this weapon, however. Each shot of the Ambassador will result in a reduced accuracy, so firing in quick succession will reduce the accuracy quite fast.

It is necessary, therefore, to wait a second or two between shots to ensure maximum accuracy.
6. Which of these maps can be both an Arena map and a King of the Hill map?

Answer: Nucleus

The Nucleus map was introduced with the Sniper vs Spy update, and functions as both an Arena and King of the Hill map. The central feature of the map is a 'diabolical doomsday device', which teams must capture and defend (in King of the Hill), or simply capture once it becomes available to expedite the Arena match. Snipers will have a field day in the King of the Hill version of this map due to the clear line of sight from all sides to the central capture point.

It's interesting to note that the particles on the doomsday device are in fact the same as those from the end of another Valve game, "Portal".
7. Which of the classes is Scottish?

Answer: Demoman

KA-BLOOIE! The Demoman is the master of explosives and grenades. His grenade launcher is useful for hitting enemies at medium range, or bouncing around corners to potentially kill incoming enemies. The Demoman can also plant sticky bombs which will detonate upon the click of a button. Placing these sticky bombs around doorways or in dark or out-of-view places are good for ambushing enemies that dare to come close.
8. Which of these maps is NOT a Payload map?

Answer: Egypt

Payload maps feature a cart loaded with explosives which the BLU team must guide along a track, through a series of checkpoints, to the RED base. Should the payload reach the RED base, the BLU team will win. The cart can only move forward if there is at least one ally standing next to it.

There are three Payload maps - Goldrush, Hoodoo and Badwater Basin. The Pipeline map is a Payload Race map, in which both teams have a cart, and the first team to lead the cart to the enemy base wins.
9. Which team's architectural style is more rustic, rather than industrial?

Answer: RED

The fierce rivalry between RED (Reliable Excavation Demolition) and BLU (Builders League United) is the basis of the entire game. Both teams have a distinct architectural style, allowing for easy recognition in a map. The RED team opt for a rustic, wooden style in their buildings, while the BLU team boast an industrial, solid look in theirs.
10. The first letter of each of the previous nine correct answers will spell out the answer to this question. Which melee weapon for the Demoman gives increased speed and health with every decapitation it deals?

Answer: Eyelander

The Eyelander is a unique unlockable weapon for the Demoman, and can be devastating where there are a lot of enemies in the same area. Each kill using the Eyelander results in the decapitation of the enemy, which in turn grants an increased movement speed and health for the Demoman.

It's best to stay away from an Eyelander-wielding Demoman when he's on a rampage, and attack from a distance. The bonus speed and health, however, caps at four kills. Any kills after that will not increase speed and health further.
