Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What company makes the Xbox 360?

Answer: Microsoft

The Xbox 360 was the Microsoft Corporation's second shot at a home console, after the vastly popular Xbox released five years prior. It is created to compete with the Sony Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. It has an advantage in the game market, because its release was quicker than any of the other competitor systems.
2. What was the North American release date of the console?

Answer: November 22, 2005

People made long lines outside of electronic distributors anxious to get the new console on November 22. At the end of 2005, market research indicated that 1.5 million Xbox 360 units were sold. The research said that 900 000 units were sold in North America, 500 000 in Europe, and 100 000 in Japan.
3. The release date of the console was the same all over the world.

Answer: False

In reality, the gaps between the release dates of most nations were very varied. In the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, the 360 was released on November 22, 2005. On December 2, 2006, it was released in Europe, on December 10, it was released in Japan, on Feburary 2, it was released in Mexico and Colombia, and on February 24, the system was released in South Korea.

By the end of March, 2006, the remainder of the countries had the Xbox 360 in circulation.
4. What is the difference between the Xbox 360 Premium Edition and the Xbox 360 Core System?

Answer: Premium came with a detachable 20 gigabyte hard-drive while the regular version did not.

Apart from the detachable hard-drive that came with the X-Box 360 Premium Edition, other differences include: a 2.4 GHz wireless controller, an Xbox Live headset, HD cables, and an ethernet cable. The standard version, which only included the standard console had no hard-drive, a wired controller, a standard AV cable and no ethernet cable. It did cost one hundred dollars less, anyway.
5. What was the average launch price of the Xbox 360 Premium Edition?

Answer: $399.99 US Dollars

The high price, at release seemed to discourage no-one from purchasing the console. The Premium Edition cost $399.99, the Core System cost $299.99, and the other prices were soon seen on E-Bay after its release. In fact, a shortage allowed bids to go up to $100 000 on the system, and amazingly, people were able to pay the money.
6. Which of the following is not true about the Xbox 360's technical capabilities?

Answer: 512 kilobyte RAM

512 kilobytes would be far too small for a system of such grand technical specs. 512 megabytes is the actually RAM available in the console. Every other one of the specifications listed are true. You can listen to your game in surround sound because of an amazing sound card within the console. You also have fantastic graphics because of the 325 million transistors in the graphics card.
7. The Xbox 360 has the ability to connect to computers using Windows XP, to stream music and videos directly to the TV.

Answer: True

The moment someone gets the system, the ability doesn't exist. Once the user downloads the program "Windows Media Connect", the Xbox and the PC can detect one another and allow the transfer capabilities to continue. The download also allows users to change the soundtracks of games.

For example, if a user dislikes the music in "Call of Duty 2", the download will allow them to change the symphonic war music to heavy metal or whatever they want.
8. On January 5, 2006 the makers of the console signed a long-term contract with which satellite service provider?

Answer: DirecTV

The plan behind the deal is to increase the market of DirecTV and allow gamers to not only play games on their console but watch digital programming as well. The way that it would work is that a DirectTV satellite box could be attached to the system and allow the owner to download high definition television shows.
9. Which of the following games was not a launch title on the Xbox 360?

Answer: Burnout Revenge

"Need For Speed Most Wanted", "Perfect Dark Zero", and "Quake 4" were all released on November 22, 2005, the release date of the console. "Burnout Revenge" was released on March 7, 2006, just under four months later. "Burnout Revenge" is a driving game, with an emphasis on speed and insanity.

The 360's graphics no doubt puts that iteration of the "Burnout" series ahead of its predecessors.
10. Which of its launch titles proved to be the Xbox 360's hottest seller, in 2005?

Answer: Call of Duty 2

"Call of Duty 2" is a World War II game released along side the Xbox 360. It was the best-selling 360 game of 2005, selling 250 000 copies in its first week of availability. The remainder of the release games were all great sellers but couldn't out sell "Call of Duty 2".
