Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these is NOT one of the characters you will play during "Assassin's Creed 3"?

Answer: Altair

Haytham Kenway is perhaps the most interesting of the many playable characters of the "Assassin's Creed" saga, because this is the first time you get the chance to play a Templar! This actually goes on for quite a few missions, but you'll switch to Ratonhnhake:ton (Connor Kenway) soon enough. Desmond too will be required to perform a few missions - in our present world no less!
2. "Assassin's Creed 3" is set in late 2012. According to the game's story, what disaster is set to occur on 21.12.2012?

Answer: A massive solar flare

"Assassin's Creed 3" assumes that the Mayan calendar, which was set to end on December 21st 2012, actually predicts a global apocalypse caused by a massive sun-flare destroying the face of our planet and most of our technology. Of course we now know that nothing actually happened on that day, but in the game's world it _will_ happen if Desmond fails to unlock a precursor device capable of stopping it.
3. Which of these locations is not visited at all during "Assassin's Creed 3"?

Answer: Gettysburg

"Assassin's Creed 3" opens with an assassination in London, and then the story travels across the Atlantic Ocean to the new world. Most of the story takes place between 1755 and 1782, covering both the Seven-Years' War and the American War of Independence. Both Boston and New York are actual full-fledged maps to be explored, and are quite massive. Furthermore, we get the chance to explore the countryside around the northern colonies, in what would later become the states of Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and so forth.

The frontier region consists of a few small towns surrounded by plenty of wilderness.
4. Which of these animals cannot be hunted?

Answer: Bison

The Frontier region is divided into a dozen hunting grounds, each containing four different kinds of animals to be hunted, including hares, raccoons, beavers, foxes, deer, elk, wolves and bears. Hunting is not just a good way to practice stealth and technique - it's also a good way to earn lots of money. Beaver pelts, primarily, are both easy to acquire (beavers are really slow) and highly valuable. Bear pelts are the most valuable, but you must fight or outmaneuver a bear in order to get one.
5. What is the "Predator Move"?

Answer: Hanging an enemy using a rope dart.

"Assassin's Creed 3" introduces a wide variety of new tools, used both for hunting and for assassinations. The rope dart can be used to hang an opponent from a branch or post, in what the game refers to as a "Predator Move": Connor climbs onto a perching position, hurls the dart (which is tied to a long rope) at the intended target, and then rappels off that perch, hanging the target in the process.

This is a very quiet killing method, and is particularly useful when stalking a target in the wilderness.

There are a few opportunities to use it in other places too.
6. Translated to English, what is the name of Connor's ship?

Answer: The Eagle

The Aquila (Latin for "Eagle") is a ship restored by Connor with the help of the citizens of the Davenport homestead. It is a very fast ship, and can become quite powerful once a load of money is invested into improving its firepower and defenses. Connor can go on many naval missions, escorting merchant vessels and doing battle with both pirate and British Naval ships. Naval combat is entirely new to the "Assassin's Creed" series, and is spectacular to both play and behold.
7. Who is the last Templar killed by Connor in "Assassin's Creed 3"?

Answer: Charles Lee

Despite him being the leader of the Templars in the new world, Haytham Kenway will die second from last. Even in death, he displays that marvelous duplicity between cold-hearted killer and loyal friend, dying to essentially protect his friend and right-hand, Charles Lee.

The long final chase after Lee is quite epic, and culminates many miles away from where it begins, with both hunter and hunted being on the verge of death from exhaustion and blood loss!
8. Which of these people can perform metalwork for you?

Answer: Big Dave

"Assassin's Creed 3" allows you to create a whole community around the Davenport house, in a secluded part of the frontier. Connor will gradually meet more and more civilians looking for a home or family, and will give them the opportunity to settle on the estate. In return, they will provide services - primarily resources and craftwork to be sold.
9. Who is the first Assassin Recruit you'll meet?

Answer: Stephane Chapheau

Stephane is French-Canadian, and loyal to the Patriots (and particularly to Samuel Adams). After Connor helps him defeat a group of aggressive British taxmen, Stephane pledges himself to Connor's service. There is a total of 6 recruits to be found, each requiring you to liberate a part of Boston or New York from Templar influence before they will join. Recruits can be used in many ways in this game, whether to lure guards away, incite a riot, guard Connor, and so forth.

In this game, recruits cannot die - but they can be injured and require a lot of time to recuperate.
10. Ratonhnhake:ton's nickname is "Connor". What does the name "Connor" signify?

Answer: It was the name of Achilles' son.

Achilles lost his wife and son many years ago, and Ratonhnhake:ton is perhaps the only comfort he has left. He gives him the alias "Connor", rekindling hope in the old man that things may yet change for the better. At the end of the game, Ratonhnhake:ton buries the ancient precursor key in (the "real") Connor's grave, where Desmond will find it over 200 years later.
11. Who or what is "01001010010101010100111001001111"?

Answer: Juno

During the game, Desmond receives e-mail messages from his teammates that can be read on a laptop in the Grand Temple (outside the Animus). At some point, the spirit of Juno manages to interface with the laptop and begins sending threatening e-mails to Desmond, accusing him for wasting time and for not trying earnestly to unlock the temple's secrets.

The laptop reports the sender as a long binary number, which translates to "JUNO" in ASCII code. Strangely, Juno's abusive and highly-condescending language as seen in these letters is very much at odds with her generally-amiable persona whenever she is encountered throughout the temple itself... does she have ulterior motives?
12. Desmond's first mission in the real world (2012) occurs at a skyscraper construction site. Where does the second mission take place?

Answer: A crowded stadium

Desmond has to go on three separate missions in the real world during the game, to retrieve power sources to activate various computers in the Grand Temple. These missions play out very similarly to those in the Animus, since Desmond is a skilled Assassin himself.

However, without the helpful interface features of the Animus, such as threat indicators and a mini-map, these missions can be a little more difficult.
13. Which gift does Norris finally give to Myriam to win her heart?

Answer: A hunting knife.

As Connor gathers more settlers for the Davenport Homestead, he can undertake missions involving these characters and their daily lives. One set of missions involves a budding romance between the miner, Norris, and the huntress, Myriam - and will culminate with their marriage. Over the course of the game, watching the Davenport Homestead grow can be a satisfying accomplishment within itself.

It truly feels like a growing community of like-minded people trying to carve out a niche for themselves in untamed lands.
14. Which fort contains Haytham Kenway's headquarters?

Answer: Fort George

This massive fort at the southern tip of Manhattan is inaccessible for the majority of the game, with a high stockade and closed gates on the side facing the city, and impenetrable walls on its ocean side. In order to infiltrate the fort and get to Haytham, Connor must coordinate a naval barrage to breach the walls and cause enough confusion for him to get inside - via the tunnels underneath the city.

Unfortunately, Connor overestimated his ability to make his way through the fort while it is being heavily bombarded, and barely makes it out alive!
15. Which member of the First Civilization is reincarnated at the end of the game?

Answer: Juno

Juno appears to Desmond and his teammates many times during the game as they attempt to unlock the Grand Temple's secrets, telling them stories about how the First Civilization tried (and failed) to preserve itself. She urges them to complete their task, but does not reveal what is truly hiding within the temple.

As it turns out, the temple houses a device that will halt the coming apocalypse - but will also restore Juno to life and unleash her upon the world. Desmond has to make a choice that will impact everyone on this planet!
