1. What is the name of the player character in this game?

Answer: Quote

You don't actually learn this until you restore Curly's memory in a place called the Plantation. You do this with a mushroom called Ma Pignon.

2. Where do you first meet Curly?

Answer: Sand Zone

Curly practically becomes your partner for the game, and she is way more helpful than the people from other games like "Final Fantasy". She has the same jumping abilities as Quote, and very powerful weapons, like her Machine Gun.

3. What is the name of the monster that Jack tells you about when you can go to the Sand Zone?

Answer: Red Ogre

Green Devils are enemies, Hells Messenger is the description of Butes and Mesas in the end credits, and Toroko is a friendly character that you are forced to kill in the Sand Zone. You fight the Red Ogre in the Hidden Last Cave, and when you win, you get the Medal of the Red Ogre.

4. How many people die in the Sand Zone?

Answer: Two

Toroko dies, and King does, too. Many people have frowned upon this, in that you are forced to kill an in-game friend. At least Misery kills King, and not you.

5. What is the race most encountered on the island?

Answer: Mimiga

Mimiga look like hybrids of bunnies and humans. Sue and Itoh were transformed into Mimiga by Misery. At the end credits, Itoh made a machine to turn them back to human, but after a sneeze, they are Mimiga again.

6. What is the name of the source of the evil in the island?

Answer: A human named Ballos

Jenka is Ballos' sister, Balrog is one of the Doctor's minions, and Desire is from a book. Ballos' full story can be seen if you play the final area in the game, the Blood-Stained Sanctuary.

7. How many tyrants before the Doctor wielded the Demon Crown?

Answer: Three

Their names were Halda, Annachponae, and Miakid. The statues of them in the Statue Chamber can be destroyed to reveal statues of Quote, Toroko, King, and Curly once Numahachi finishes the Doctor's statue. Quote, Toroko, King, and Curly Brace are the "Four Heroes".

8. What is the name of the area where the Core is fought?

Answer: Core

The Core area is technically in the Labyrinth, but it's still it's own area. The Core is one of the hardest bosses in the game. Good luck!

9. What is the official name of the final (and hardest) area in the game?

Answer: Blood-Stained Sanctuary

Pixel made this kind of morbidly obvious. In the final battle, you can see the tortured faces of all Ballos killed with his magic, bursting out of the last of his four forms. It looks like blood...

10. How many different endings are there in Cave Story, excluding ones that you can get with hacks, etc.?

Answer: Three

One involves you flying away with Kazuma, one saving the island from the Doctor, and one keeping the island afloat by killing Ballos. The third one is obviously the best.
