Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which character will not trade with you in Kurast Dock?

Answer: Natalya

Natalya is an assassin found in a southern part of Kurast Docks and while she serves no real purpose in the game outside of gossip, her presence in the game was made before the "Lord of Destruction" expansion was released, leading her to be the earliest model of the assassin shown in the game.

After Act III is completed, she disappears. Ormus is the magic dealer of the Docks and he is found in the center portion of the town. Hratli's position will vary; if you're coming to Kurast for the first time, he'll be at Meshif's boat, but if you're coming back, he'll be in the east end of town. Alkor is found in the north end of town and along with trading with you he'll also gamble and become an integral part in quests.
2. When you give Meshif the Jade Figurine, what will he give you in return?

Answer: The Golden Bird

The first quest of Act III, 'The Golden Bird', revolves around finding a Jade Figurine in the forests outside Kurast Docks. The first unique boss encountered on your way through the Act will bear this reward as soon as they are defeated. Once returned to Meshif, he will trade the Jade Figurine for the Golden Bird and this in turn can be traded to Alkor for a Potion of Life, permanently increasing your overall Health Points by twenty.

This can be done one time per difficulty for a total of sixty extra Health Points overall.

Health Points are normally raised by adding Attribute Points to Vitality.
3. Progressing through the Act, what is the first of the Khalim items that you should come across chronologically?

Answer: Eye

The third quest of the Act, 'Khalim's Will', begins when you enter the Great Marsh. Much like the 'Horadric Staff' quest in Act II, 'Khalim's Will' requires the collection of numerous items (four, in total) which must be combined in the Horadric Cube and used to advance to the final areas of the Act. Khalim's Eye, the first piece of this puzzle to be acquired, is found within the Spider Cavern, one of the dungeons of Spider Forest.

The unique monster Sszark The Burning will use its Extra Strong enchantment to protect its chest containing this item.
4. In the second quest of Act III, what is the Gidbinn?

Answer: A blade

The Gidbinn is found atop an obscure statue made out of forest materials found in the Flayer Jungle. When you discover this object, you can obtain the Gidbinn itself simply by searching into it. This quest, known as 'The Blade of the Old Religion', is the second of the Act and it is given to you by Hratli in the south end of town. When you obtain the item, it can be returned to Ormus for a magical ring which can be used or sold.
The Gidbinn itself is a dagger- the only one to be used as a quest item. Its stats stay the same regardless of what difficulty you are in.
5. Flayer Jungle is found between Great Marsh and which other area?

Answer: Lower Kurast

After passing through the similarly bleak Great Marsh, players will find themselves in Flayer Jungle. Flayers themselves are some of the more common enemy types in this jungle and their Shamans will often shoot fire at close distances, so high resistance is nice to have. Flayer Jungle is home to the Flayer Dungeon and much like the Gidbinn, the second part of the third quest, Khalim's Brain, can be found here. Witch Doctor Endugu, a Fire Enchanted Shaman, can be found in the Flayer Dungeon's final chambers.

The Swampy Pit, a three-floored dungeon, can also be found in the Flayer Jungle but like Arachnid Lair, it is not related to any quests.
6. Khalim's Heart is found in the Sewers.

Answer: True

The Sewers can be accessed from both Lower Kurast and Kurast Bazaar as soon as you emerge from the dense jungle environment preceding it. These portions of the city have been emptied out of friendly life and filled with Zealots, bug swarms, and inhuman creatures. Both contain waypoints. The Sewers are a large labyrinthine system of tunnels containing numerous undead creatures and electrified bat creatures.

The Cold Enchanted bat boss Icehawk Riftwing will guard Khalim's Heart and access to the second floor of the Sewers where the item can be found.

This is the third and penultimate item needed to finish the 'Khalim's Will' quest.
7. Who gives the quest for Lam Esen's Tome?

Answer: Alkor

The fourth quest of Act III, 'Lam Esen's Tome', is quite monumental in its reward. Quite simply, the goal is to travel to Kurast Bazaar and find the Ruined Temple. Once inside, finding Lam Esen's Tome should be a simple feat though it's guarded by the Spectral Hit/Extra Fast unique boss, Battlemaid Sarina.
Once Lam Esen's Tome is retrieved, it goes back to Alkor and you'll instantly receive five Attribute Points to use on Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, or Energy. This can be done once per difficulty.
You do not need to speak to Alkor to receive this quest although he will be able to give it to you if you complete the second quest, 'The Blade of the Old Religion'. On the other hand, simply entering any of the Temples or the Ruined Temple in and throughout Kurast will result in the quest being added to the roster.
8. What area separates the Travincal from Upper Kurast?

Answer: Kurast Causeway

Entering the Kurast Causeway, found to the northeast end of Upper Kurast, will start the fifth quest of the game, 'The Blackened Temple'. This small area only serves as a means of connecting the two areas without having them directly meld into one another.

The Travincal is home to many difficult enemies and the entrance to the Durance of Hate, both of which are major waypoints on the quest through Act 3. No enemies will spawn in this area either, so it's somewhat of the final dead zone of the Act.
9. What item, dropped by a High Council member, is needed to form Khalim's Will?

Answer: Khalim's Flail

The Travincal is a crucial location in the Act as it is the finishing point to the lengthy third quest, 'Khalim's Will' and the fifth quest, 'The Blackened Temple'. Both of these essentially mean that you need to fight against the High Council members near the entrance to the Durance of Hate, and each of these is treated similar to a unique monster with their own strong attributes and enchantments. Defeating all of the High Council members will result in your attaining Khalim's Flail which, once combined with Khalim's Eye, Khalim's Brain, and Khalim's Heart in the Horadric Cube will create Khalim's Will.

This, in turn, will be used to smash the Compelling Orb (after which it will inexplicably destroy itself) and you can finish both quests by entering the Durance of Hate.
10. What is the name of the final boss of Act 3?

Answer: Mephisto

Found in the third and final floor of the Durance of Hate, Mephisto is the third boss of the game and defeating him is the primary objective of the sixth quest of Act III, 'The Guardian'. In your way will be numerous High Council members though, and they are no easy feat to beat. Mephisto, known as the Lord of Hatred, is the first of three Prime Evils that must be defeated in the game. Using Lightning, Ice, and Poison attacks, he's not the easiest person to beat.

After completing the mission and defeating this boss, you'll be able to obtain Mephisto's Soulstone and proceed through a portal in the Durance of Hate, Level 3 to the Pandemonium Fortress of Act 4.

The journey to Diablo continues.
