The Dragoon Dirk is an excellent choice for low-level characters to wield in their range slot. A few extra points of Dexterity is nice to have, and it doesn't impede on the rest of your inventory.

Druids and Shaman both can cast Spirit of Wolf. Druids at Level 14, and Shaman at Level 9, and Rangers at Level 30. Beastlords can also cast Spirit of Wolf. Shaman also get a skill called Alchemy, that they can use to make potions that grant the user Spirit of Wolf -- these sell quite well on most markets.

And, indeed, it is true. While Druids and Shaman are very good healers in their own right, only clerics truly master the skill. They gain their healing spells far earlier than the other healing classes, have the most powerful hit point and armor-class buffs in the game, and can cast Ressurection, which brings a fallen friend back to his corpse, no matter where he is on the face of the planet, and with a good chunk of his experience that he lost upon death.
