A fairly simple quiz, if you know your 'Everquest'. I plan to make many more 'Everquest' quizzes. They will include ALL current 'Everquest' expansions - Kunark, Velious, and Luclin. This one focuses on zones and their landmarks. Enjoy!

Question 15 of 15
15. And finally, which zone is this a description of? It contains trees, sand, and sea alike, yet does not border an Ocean. Newcomers into the world of Everquest can hunt here, but they should also beware a creature that lurks in a certain area, a creature that can destroy many with a single blow. This zone borders others, and contains dungeons. One of these may be hunted in at a fairly low level, but the other is best left untouched until you have gained in equipment and experience, and are with a considerable party of friends. However, many inexperienced young ones have been led to their deaths here by their curiosity. This zone contains many creatures, both undead and living. Some are vaguely lupine, while others are outcasts of their kind. There are many other creatures beside these, however, including several of the arachnid kind.

Answer: (No hint here....pure brain power only I'm afraid)

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following zones does not border either East or West Cabilis?

Answer: Emerald Jungle

Warsliks Wood and Lake of Ill Omen both border West Cabilis. Swamp of No Hope borders East Cabilis. The fourth and final zone that borders Cabilis is Field of Bone, the main Iksar newbie zone. Emerald Jungle is accessible, via Field of Bone.
2. Please give the exact zone name in answer to this question. If you go north from North Ro, where will you end up?

Answer: East Freeport

If you go north from North Ro, you reach East Freeport. South takes you to the Oasis, and west through the tunnel leads to East Commons.
3. Acronyms are letters used to stand for full words, usually in the name of a place or organisation. Many of the zones in Everquest have acronyms which are instantly recognisable to experienced players. For the next few questions, please state the name of the zone for which the acronym stands. FM?

Answer: Frontier Mountains

Frontier Mountains is found on Kunark. The Mountain Giant fort there is a fairly popular hunting spot for 25+'s.
4. Gfay?

Answer: Greater Faydark

On some servers it is the main 'market' zone. Greater Faydark is a well-known zone and contains Kelethin, a town below which are scattered the corpses of many a clumsy or drunk adventurer.
5. SH?

Answer: Shadow Haven

The main town on Luclin, Shadow Haven contains nearly all races and classes. It borders the Nexus, giving it a fairly handy central positioning on Luclin.
6. BW?

Answer: Burning Wood

A high-level zone, few people below 45 enter here. It is rarely used unless a Guild is doing a raid on Chardok, but the Wurms, Sarnaks, Hornets, and Forest Giants there give excellent experience and good fun to those few who choose to hunt there. They also drop many high level spells for classes such as Druid and Necro.
7. Which of these zones is not a 'newbie zone'?

Answer: Oasis of Marr

While an extremely popular hunting spot, the Oasis is too high for lowbies to hunt in. Level 8-10 is probably about the lowest you can go there alone. Toxxulia Forest is the Erudite's newbie zone, Innothule Swamp is the Troll's, and Field of Bone is the Iksar's.
8. Which of these zones is not a real EQ zone?

Answer: Tomb of Tal Rasha

The Crypt of Dalnir (a former Iksar Haggle Baron) is found in Warsliks Wood. The Lair of Splitpaw is in South Karana. The Tower of Frozen Shadow is found in Iceclad Ocean, on Velious. The Tomb of Tal Rasha, however, isn't in EQ at all, but in Diablo II.
9. Which zone is a combination of the names of two Gods?

Answer: Innothule Swamp

It is a combination of Innoruuk (the Prince of Hate) and Cazic-Thule (the Lord of Fear).
10. In which zone (in which it is possible to hunt from about 20+ in the eastern side of the zone, although many don't even go to this zone till level 30) would you find a pulling spot nicknamed 'the ledge'?

Answer: Overthere

Probably the most popular pulling spot for 30+'s in the Overthere, the ledge, like the rest of the eastern half of the zone, becomes a danger zone for any non-evil (and Iksars grr) races or classes after 11pm, as this is when the 'Goons' (Dragoons) and their General leave the outpost and patrol that side of the zone, killing all in their way who don't have good enough faction with them.

It is also possible to hunt in the Overthere from 20+, as I was soloing with my Iksar Necro at the mudpit in the NE corner at 22 and quite a lot was blue to me. Good exp too :)
11. Which of these zones does not contain a Dragon or Dragoness?

Answer: Trakanon's Teeth

Permafrost contains her ladyship Lady Vox, Dreadlands is patrolled by Gorenaire, Wakening Lands, as any Druid will know, is inhabited by Wuoshi, who is conveniently placed practically on top of the Druid Ring. Whilst named after a Dragon, Trakanon's Teeth is not actually where you find Trakanon - he inhabits the ruins of Old Sebilis, the former Iksar city.
12. Which of these towns does not contain a Priest of Discord?

Answer: Cabilis

In Kelethin, the PoD is at the bottom of the aptly nicknamed 'PoD Lift'. In Rivervale he is found between the Bank, Fool's Gold, and zone to Misty Thicket. In Grobb he is by the zone to Innothule Swamp. Cabilis, however, appears to be one of the only towns not containing a PoD, which seems a little strange.

But then, the Iksars don't tolerate any other races in their town, and I've never seen an Iksar PoD.
13. Which of these towns lies furthest from a Druid Ring?

Answer: Halas

Rivervale borders Misty Thicket, which has a Druid Ring. The same is true of Kaladim, which borders Butcherblock Mountains, and Erudin, which borders Toxxulia Forest. However, the nearest Druid Ring to Halas is in Surefall Glade. To reach Halas from the Ring, you must travel through Qeynos Hills, Blackburrow, and Everfrost.
14. Which of these zones lies the furthest north?

Answer: Nektulos Forest

The continent of Antonica lies north of both Kunark and Velious, so this negates Skyfire Mountains (on Kunark) and Cobalt Scar (on Velious) as the correct answers. East Freeport connects, rather obviously, to West Freeport, which borders the Commons. North of here is Nektulos Forest, which makes it the northernmost zone of the four.

Answer: Field of Bone

Well, I play an Iksar, so this was the zone I knew best. The Field of Bone borders the sea, yet does not border an Ocean zone such as Ocean of Tears or the Timorous Deep. Most newbie Iksars hunt here, but on an island in the sea lurks the Tangrin, a level 55 giant Gorilla who is part of (I believe) the Enchanter epic.

The two dungeons are Kurns Tower (approx levels 8-25), and Kaesora (approx levels 35-50). Many an unsuspecting low-level Iksar has wandered into Kaesora and met with an unfortunate end.... Creatures in FoB include Scaled Wolves, outcast Iksars (eg Bandits, Brigands, Manslayers), Bonecrawlers (giant Spiders), and Skeletons.
