Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The world of "Eye of Judgment" is divided among four nations, each based upon a single element: fire, water, earth and wood. What is the official name for the Nation of Wood?

Answer: Til Vorg

Each of the four nations was founded, and named after, one of the four saints that emerged from the Tower of Juno in Holy Calendar Year 1: Til Vorg (Wood), Val na Vos (Earth), Dhees (Fire) and Tritona (Water). The saints return to the Juno Tower in HC 25, disappearing from the stage of history.
2. The world of "Eye of Judgment" is split into two continents: Terra Noram in the north and Terra Sauram in the south - but what is between them?

Answer: The Granvil Bridge

Saint Tritona ordered the building of the Granvil Bridge in HC 10, which links the northern and southern continents when it was finished in HC 64. Over 10 million people worked on constructing the bridge.

In HC 854, war breaks out between the Fire and Water nations, and the Fire nation holds the Granvil Bridge for a week before the mercenary Latoo uses water dragons in a flanking attack to reclaim the bridge.
3. The "prehistory" of "Eye of Judgment" begins around 50,000 DE (Dawn Era), when the "Supreme Being" created the world. What is the name of this "Supreme Being"?

Answer: The Supreme Being does not have a name

Juno is the son of the Supreme Being and Scion is the inventor and ruler of the Bioliths. Vizak is the seer who prophesied that one day a mighty hero of Fire would use the Inferno Sword to destroy a powerful tyrant from the realm of Earth and deliver Cai-Shae from its oppressors.
4. In HC 411, the magic of Summoning Cards, first invented in the Dawn Era, is rediscovered by wizards of which of these?

Answer: Academy of the Sacred Darkness

The Academy of the Sacred Darkness is located in Visvar Vaas (the Sand City), the capital of the nation of Earth. Aegis Citadel, Se Hollyn Fortress and Moving Isle of Kadena are all names of cards in the game.
5. The Church of Parmus was founded in HC 600 - but who was Parmus?

Answer: An excommunicated monk

Parmus was an excommunicated monk from the Monastery of Mourning. The Church of Parmus used prayer to channel magic, creating real "miracles" that quickly converted many to the church. Scion was behind the church, and used it to collect mana from its followers.
6. The Forsaken Island lies between the Nations of Fire and Water - but what is its true name?

Answer: Cai-Shae Island

Cai-Shae Island remains neutral when the two are at war. People from both nations live in peace there, but their refusal to choose sides means that neither the Fire nor the Water nation will protect them from pirates.
7. Didi the Enlightened is the hero of the Fire Nation. What was Didi before he became a hero (or enlightened, for that matter)?

Answer: bandit

Didi started as a bandit of Goghlie. He had graduated from petty crimes to leading his own band of outlaws. He was an accomplished swordsman, but enjoyed using his good looks more than his blade, getting close to rich women - or, more accurately, close to their riches and jewelry.
8. The Fire Phantom card, Warden Hilda, is associated with what prison?

Answer: Black Goat

Hilda is a native of Cai-Shae Island. According to the short story in the Fire Crusader Summoner's Companion, she was paid to keep Didi prisoner for three years, but lets him go after he promises to fulfill the prophesy and free the island from pirates.
9. Who was the first Crucible King?

Answer: Aaron

In HC 854, Aaron becomes the first Crucible King. In what is called the "Birth of Fire Rite incident", Crown Prince Carlo Dhees is assassinated in Trade City Theraclave while celebrating the birthday of Saint Dhees in HC 1310. Amongst whispers of a Tritonan plot against the Dhees Empire, young Crucible King Dios IV declares war on Tritona.

Xerabis is the chief of the Stone Wing Dwarf Scouts, as named in the short story in the Earth Emperor Summoning Companion booklet.
10. Who was the first commoner to be crowned Queen of Tritona?

Answer: Clare Wil

The war hero Clare Wil was crowned the 55th Queen of Tritona in HC 1410, the first commoner to ascend to the throne. Rule of the Tritona Queendom was now based upon merit and popularity, instead of bloodline. One year into her reign, Queen Wil disappeared, sending Tritona into chaos. After thirteen months of fruitless searching, the disappearance was treated as an abdication, and the Imposter Queen Anfisa took over the kingdom.

Vlo and Lo'am are monks in the Water Barrage Summoner's Companion short story.
11. There are only two regular(non-Phantom) first series cards to not have any text - the Biolith Battle Chariot and which other card?

Answer: Twin Goblins

Without magic attacks, protections, secondary attacks, or anything else, Twin Goblins does not require any additional text on the card. Its unique feature (a double attack) is explained graphically.
12. Which of the following cards would fit the theme of a discard deck?

Answer: Leapfrog Bandit

Discard decks rely on cards that force the opponent to discard cards; they will lose cards instead of being able to use them, and they may run out of cards and need to forfeit the match. If a Leapfrog Bandit is destroyed on a non-Wood field, your opponent must discard one card.
13. The Ninja cards can be powerful, as each can get Invisibility if another specific Ninja is on the board. Which of these is not a Ninja card in the game?

Answer: Tiger Ninja

The Firefly Ninja gets Invisibility from the Spider Ninja. The Spider Ninja gets Invisibility from the Wolf Ninja. The Wolf Ninja gets Invisibility from the Swallow Ninja. The Swallow Ninja gets Invisibility from the Firefly Ninja. The Biolith Ninja does not play the round robin invisibility game.
14. Many cards have a picture of a chain and lock around the summoning cost, meaning that there is a Summoning Lock on them. How can you unlock this Summoning Lock?

Answer: Four fields on the board must be occupied.

The Summoning Lock can be unlocked/locked many times during a game as the number of cards on the board goes over or under four. When the lock is in place, cards that have the Summoning Lock can be placed on fields corresponding to their own element.
15. Which spell card would you use to give mana to your opponent?

Answer: Goghlie Altar

When you play Goghlie Altar, both players gain mana equal to the number of enemies on the board - you probably don't want to give your opponent mana, but that's the price you pay with this card.

Parmetic Holy Feast lets you discard 1 creature and get 2 mana, without giving mana to your opponent. Summoner Mesmer's Lapse takes away mana from your opponent, equal to the summoning cost of a creature you discard. Summoner Mesmer's Errand lets you draw two cards.
16. Which creature gets +2 to Attack and a Dodge attempt when it has exactly 1 HP?

Answer: Elven Berserker Maiden

With 3 HP, the Elven Berserker Maiden can be placed on an Earth Field and be instantly reduced to 1 HP to get the bonuses immediately. This is one card where it is sometimes an effective strategy to take the -2 HP field penalty than the field bonus of +2 HP from its element (wood).
17. What creature card does not belong to any element?

Answer: White Cubic

Because "White Cubic does not belong to any element", it gets a unique status in the game. The card "Tino, Son of Scion" attacks cards based on element: "Tino's Magic Attack targets all enemies of the same element as the target." Because White Cubic does not have an element, it is immune to Tino's element-based magic attack.
18. "Fieldquaking" a field flips it to the alternate side. Which card fieldquakes the most fields on the board?

Answer: Seer Vizak's Calamity

Seer Vizak's Calamity fieldquakes all fields on the board. If Undead King Novogus is on a non-Earth field and damages a creature, then that creature's field is fieldquaked. Great Tolicore Quake fieldquakes all fields of a certain element. Fissures of Goghlie fieldquakes a single field.
19. After placing a Stone Wing Dwarf on the board, which of the following cards could you place on your next turn to gain the most Protection immediately (assuming you had enough mana)?

Answer: Se Hollyn Fortress

A Stone Wing Dwarf gains Protection equal to the number of allied Giant Axe Dwarves on the board; in this case, a single Giant Axe Dwarf would grant +1 Protection. The Stone Wing/Giant Axe Dwarf combo is common, but does not grant the MOST Protection in a single turn.

Arelai the Protector grants allied creatures on Earth fields +1 Protection. Verzar Canine grants allied creatures on adjacent fields +1 Protection. Se Hollyn Fortress grants allied creatures on adjacent fields +2 Protection.
20. Water creatures often get Dodge attempts, especially on water fields. Which of these water creatures doesn't get a dodge attempt by itself?

Answer: Dragon of Voice Sea

Aluhja Priestess gets a dodge attempt on a water field. Don of Venoa gets a Dodge attempt for each adjacent enemy, as well as granting adjacent allied creatures a Dodge attempt. Mercenary Savior Latoo gets a Dodge attempt and all allied creatures on water fields get one as well. If Dragon of Voice Sea is on a Water field and you summon a creature to an adjacent field, draw a card.
