Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Apart from TM 18, what can you find in the Slowpoke Well?

Answer: King's Rock

Talk to the guy on the lower floor of the Slowpoke Well and he'll give you the King's Rock. When equipped, your opponent's Pokémon has a small chance of flinching. Also, if you attach it to a Slowpoke or Poliwhirl and trade them, they'll evolve into either Slowking (from Slowpoke) or Politoad (from Poliwhirl).
2. On Route 34 (between Ilex Forrest and Goldenrod Town) you can find the Elite Three. What kind of Pokémon do they use?

Answer: Water

All three trainers have two Water Pokémon. The first has a Goldeen and a Seaking, the second has a Staryu and a Starmi, and finally, the third has a Shellder and a Cloyster (notice a pattern?). Defeat all three and you'll get a Soft Sand, which powers up the Ground moves of the holder.
3. A Lapras can be found in Union Cave. But you can only find it once a week. When does it come out?

Answer: Fridays

On the lowest floor at the end of a long series of weaving water passageways and caves, you'll find a Lapras in a small lake. If you knock it out, a new one will appear the next week.
4. Which two Pokémon can be seen in the grass around the Ruins of Alph?

Answer: Smeargle and Natu

There is a small patch of grass in the Ruins of Alph area. But only in these twelve spaces of tall grass can the Psychic bird, Natu, and the elusive Smeargle be found. Natu can evolve into Xatu, another Psychic/Flying. This combination can be quite brutal. Smeargle learns a new move every ten levels. Sketch, which can only be learned by Smeargle, copies, permanently, the last move used on the user.
5. How many puzzles are there in the ruins of Alph?

Answer: Four

Each puzzle unlocks a new set of Unown you can encounter in the dungeon. You'll need Surf to reach the three others you couldn't hit on your first time through. With all puzzles complete, you'll be able to catch all twenty-six different Unown.
6. Where does the Karate Master, Kiyo, reside?

Answer: Mt. Mortar

Mt. Mortar has three entrances lined up nicely in a row. If you take the middle one and hunt around, you'll find Kiyo. Beat his Hitmonlee, and Hitmonchan and he'll reward you with a Tyrogue.
7. What do you get for defeating Kiyo?

Answer: A Pokémon

Tyrogue can evolve (at level 20) into one of three Pokémon. Hitmonchan if its defense score is higher than its attack score. Hitmonlee if it's the other way around. And Hitmontop if both attack and defense are the same.
8. Out of all the Whirl Islands, which is the one you have to enter if you want to find Lugia?

Answer: North-East

All the caves are interconnected, so you could go in one way and come out another. The ledges, though, act as one-way valves, and once you've jumped over one you weren't supposed to, you'll have to exit the caves and try again from the beginning.
9. Which floor is Ho-Oh on in the Tin Tower?

Answer: The Roof

Ho-Oh resides on the roof. The nine floors of puzzles and Pokémon will really start to annoy you, and you'll want to bring along some Potions to heal your Pokémon before the fight. Make sure you don't knock out too many wild Pokémon or else you'll run out of PP and have no attacks left to weaken Ho-Oh before capturing it.
10. Apart from Wobbuffet, what can you find in Dark Cave?

Answer: Black Glasses

There are a few items of value in Dark Cave, but not much you couldn't just buy at a Pokémart. The Black Glasses are given to you by some guy deep within Dark Cave. They power up the Dark moves of the holder.
