Answer: Pokemon

"Pokémon", while aimed at children, is a game that breaks all age barriers. "Pokemon 'Red' and 'Blue'" (or "Green" instead of "Blue" in Japan) were released for the Game Boy in 1996 and became an instant world-wide hit. Based in the Kanto region, the main character has a choice of three starter Pokémon to start their adventure with: Bulbasaur (Grass type), Charmander (Fire type) and Squirtle (Water type). Since then, numerous other "Pokémon" games for different consoles have been released such as "'Gold' and 'Silver'" and "'Ruby' and 'Sapphire'" and a number of spin-off series have been released as well, such as "Pokémon Rumble" and "Pokémon Ranger", as well as trading cards, an anime series, comic books and movies.

"The Sims" is a franchise based off the popular "SimCity" games. The first game was released in 2000 for the PC, which had sold more than 2 million copies by 2002. The next direct sequel, "The Sims 2", was released in 2004. Although mostly based around the PC, the games have been released for other platforms such as the XBox and XBox 360, the PS2 and 3, the GameCube etc. Other spin-off series' have also been released, such as "The Sims Medieval", "The Sims Online" and "The Sims Social", as well as numerous expansion packs for the various games.

The Tom Clancy endorsed video game series had its first instalment in 1987, titled "The Hunt for Red October". They were developed by Red Storm Entertainment, a company Clancy co-founded, which was later bought by publisher Ubisoft Games in 2000. Most of the games are split in to separate series, such as the "Rainbow Six" series, the "Splinter Cell" series, the "Ghost Recon" series and the "EndWar" series. While Clancy does not directly work on the games himself, he does endorse them and allows his name to be used in the title.

"Call of Duty" was first published on the PC with the first title, developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, released in 2003. It was highly praised by critics and the series kicked off quickly, with the sequel released in 2006 and new titles released often after that. One of the games ("Call of Duty: Black Ops") smashed previous selling records, selling over 5.6 million copies worldwide within 24 hours. As well as "Black Ops" other spin-off titles include "Modern Warfare" and "World at War". The "Madden" series by EA Games is named after John Madden, a former player, head coach and a commentator of American football (NFL). It began in 1988 with "John Madden Football" and has since had a game released almost every new NFL season. This "franchise mode" was introduced in 1998, before you simply played the games. The first "Guitar Hero" game was released for PS2 in 2005 and featured music by the likes of Queen, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Megadeth and Deep Purple. When Harmonix left in 2007 and created the "Rock Band" series, Neversoft took over. Since the original, numerous direct sequels featuring various music artists have been created as well as other indirect sequels including "DJ Hero", "Guitar Hero: Metallica" and "Guitar Hero: Van Halen". It has also expanded to other consoles, including the Xbox 360, PC and Nintendo DS. Each game features the same general gameplay- the player uses the instrument-shaped controllers to play the right colour button based on which colour appears on the screen at which time to play popular songs. Singing is different, the player must sing in accordance to a line which goes up and down depending on how high or low you must sing.

The other games are quite similar in gameplay to "Guitar Hero".

"Super Mario Bros." was the first platform game released for the NES in which he was protagonist. In most of his games he rescues Princess Peach from the major villain (mostly Bowser).
