Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Halo 2" you play as the Master Chief and what other main character?

Answer: The Arbiter

Although the Master Chief makes his reappearance in this "Halo" sequel, the game also brings a Covenant Elite known as The Arbiter into the mix. The Arbiter, originally a punished Elite soldier, ends up taking on this role as per the Prophets' suggestion and he goes into battle to overthrow rebelling forces led by the Brutes.

In battle, The Arbiter has the ability to use a ten-second camouflage instead of an on-gun light. He also fights alongside Grunts and Jackals in some levels, which is a change from the first "Halo" when there was no choice but to shoot them a whole bunch.
2. Which of these new enemies appears on the Covenant side in this game?

Answer: Drones

Drones are one of the two new regular Covenant enemies found in this game. Appearing in the second level, back on Earth, they use small guns such as Plasma Pistols but have the ability to fly like pests. Small and brittle, flying seems to be their only saving grace. Drones are otherwise quite easy to kill, perhaps even easier than Grunts. The Drones are also known by their Covenant name, Yanme'e.
Hunters and Jackals first appeared in "Halo: Combat Evolved". Skirmishers wouldn't appear until "Halo: Reach".
3. In this game, which guns can be dual-wielded?

Answer: Plasma Rifles

Another improvement made in this game was the ability to dual-wield certain guns. All of the pistols and smaller guns (including Plasma Pistols, Plasma Rifles, Needlers, Magnums, and M7s) can be dual-wielded or mixed-and-matched at will provided you find one on the ground.

When dual-wielding you will be unable to toss grenades or punch enemies as you would be able to with only one weapon. Instead, the left trigger fires the left weapon and the punch button drops the left gun.
4. The levels Outskirts and Metropolis are set in which future county?

Answer: Kenya

When Master Chief returns to Earth during another Covenant attack he lands in Old Mombasa, a part of Mombasa City in Kenya. The Outskirts section of the game is the first to mark the return of Hunters; it's also the first to be held on a planet in the game as the first few are on the Cairo Station orbiting Earth.

In these two levels, Master Chief needs to weave through the city, hit the beach, cross through several tunnels, and reach a hotel in New Mombasa. Here, you'll be able to board a Scarab, a large vehicle containing Covenant forces, and wipe them out.

After the mission, Master Chief and Miranda Keyes chase after one of the Covenant Prophets, destroying the city and jumping through space to another Halo.
5. Which of these Prophets is killed by the Master Chief?

Answer: Prophet of Regret

Mid-way through the game in the ninth stage of the game, Regret, Master Chief needs to head through the Delta Halo to battle the Prophet of Regret. The battle contains a sequence with several Elite Guards and you'll need to jump directly onto the Prophet to attack him through his powerful shield. After this stage, the Master Chief will fall into a lake and be pulled down by a mysterious creature.
The Prophet of Mercy is later attacked by Flood and left to die in the end of the stage entitled Gravemind. The Prophet of Truth continues on with the Index of the Delta Halo.
6. What creature is discovered to be the leader of the Flood?

Answer: Gravemind

After the Master Chief defeats the Prophet of Regret on the Delta Halo, he's scooped up by the Gravemind after falling into a lake. Likewise, the Arbiter is dragged down into the depths by the Gravemind after he's knocked aside by the Brute forces. Both characters feel they have no choice but to help this leading power behind the Flood to stop the rebellious Covenant forces from taking the Sacred Icon (the Index) and using it to activate the Halo, in turn destroying humans, Covenant, and Flood alike.

It's a big deal.
7. Which of these guns introduced in "Halo 2" was a sniper?

Answer: Beam Rifle

With the introduction of new Covenant units came the release of new weapons, many of which were equivalents (to an extent) of existing human weapons. The sniper equivalent was the Beam Rifle, a high-powered plasma beam shot from long distances. The Fist of Rukt was a hammer designed for high-impact, close-range combat. The Carbine was actually a unique gun which fired projectiles-- not plasma-- and had a zoom.
The Covenant weren't the only ones to get new weapons though-- the human Battle Rifle was a burst weapon release early on in the game.
8. Towards the end of the game, what Covenant force becomes an enemy using a specially designed grenade launcher?

Answer: Brutes

First fought in the twelfth level of the game, 'Gravemind', the Brutes are perhaps one of the strongest Covenant forces (along with Hunters). When the Prophets begin to die and the Sacred Icon is ever closer to being implemented, the Brutes (and certain Covenant forces) decide to rebel, taking their own route to fulfilling their prophecy.

This results in the Arbiter and his own forces taking on the Brutes while Master Chief heads out to fight the Flood-infected Covenant. Truth ends up escaping to Earth as the Flood infect the High Charity. The Type-25 Grenade Launcher, better known as the Brute Shot, was the weapon of choice for the Brutes.
9. This game featured a small handful of new vehicles as well as some old favourites. What new feature was added to the game?

Answer: You could steal a vehicle in operation

Although Master Chief could make use of human and Covenant vehicles not in use in the original "Halo" game, this sequel allowed for the ability to hijack and board a vehicle already in operation by a Covenant enemy. Jumping onto a Ghost and knocking the driver out of the seat, for instance, could be a way to cripple the enemy.

This could be taken further as well; hopping onto a Wraith, knocking open the driver's hatch, and tossing in a grenade would be a successful way to disable the tank. If you can't use it, no one can, am I right?
10. Who is the final boss of the game?

Answer: Tartarus

Heading to the control room of the Delta Halo with Miranda Keyes, Tartarus set out to activate the device to fulfill the prophecy. The final battle here requires that you, as the Arbiter, defeat Tartarus and stop the procedure. This, in turn, activates a failsafe-- all of the other Halos can now be accessed remotely from The Ark.

In other words, not good. Master Chief boards the High Charity and finds it's been overrun by The Flood. He takes off in the Dreadnaught, returning to Earth to continue the battle. Cortana remains with the Gravemind aboard the High Charity.

The fight's not over yet!
