The game begins with Harry at a playground. Dudley and his gang have finished beating up a ten-year old. Dudley's gang leaves and soon after, Harry and Dudley head back home. On their way, they encounter a dementor and Harry is forced to use magic outside of school to repel the dementor. Harry uses the incantation "Expecto Patronum" to do so. Vernon and Petunia are left out of the game.

Answer: Fred and George Weasley

When Harry, Hermione, and Ron (among others) have their first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson, they learn that there will be no practical magic in that class. They tell Fred and George the news. This causes Fred and George to teach them a few spells.

The first is the disarming spell (Expelliarmus). The second is the stunning spell (Stupefy). Fred and George then suggest Harry practice their spells on fellow students, preferably a Slytherin student.

Answer: In the library

Zacharias Smith can be found in the library. Before he can join the DA, he must finish his homework. Harry helps with his homework by performing three tasks. First, he must get a copy of "The Monster Book of Monsters", which can be found in the library. Second, he must get Wiggenweld Potion from the hospital. Finally, he must find out the year that Nearly Headless Nick died. Fortunately, Nick appears at that moment and informs Harry of the year (1492).

After accomplishing all three tasks, Zacharias agrees to go to the DA meeting.

Answer: Alicia Spinnet

Alicia Spinnet does not have her own task to perform. Rather, when Harry performs a task for Angelina Johnson, Angelina informs Harry that she will invite her fellow Quidditch Chasers, Alicia Spinnet and Katie Bell, to the DA meeting. Colin Creevey, Lee Jordan, and Ginny Weasley all have their own tasks for Harry to perform. Colin needs his camera which was thrown on the roof of the viaduct courtyard by a group of Slytherins. Lee Jordan (along with Fred and George Weasley) must hide six boxes of fireworks in the boathouse. Ginny Weasley needs Harry's help in getting back doxy venom that Umbridge confiscated from Fred and George.

Answer: Entrance courtyard

After Dumbledore leaves Hogwarts, Umbridge is declared the new head of Hogwarts. Some DA students decide to rebel against her. One of these acts of rebellion is to create portable swamps in three courtyards: transfiguration, entrance, and viaduct (all courtyards except the clock tower courtyard).
To create them, Harry must retrieve them using the levitation spell (Wingardium Leviosa) to lower them to the ground. Then, he must use either Incendio or Reducto to release the swamp within each package.
Luna Lovegood is in the entrance courtyard while Ginny Weasley is in the transfiguration courtyard to help Harry. No one is in the viaduct courtyard.
Other attempts to rebel include messing with the gears in the clock tower, pouring Babbling Beverage on several newly-installed loudspeakers, and placing Howlers inside the slots within the Owlery that belong to the Inquisitorial Squad (a newly-formed group of students that help Umbridge in her attempt to preside over Hogwarts).

Answer: McGonagall

One of many side quests in the game involves helping out four professors (McGonagall, Flitwick, Sprout, and Snape). Professor McGonagall asks Harry to find three students who are late for detention and bring them to her. Professors Flitwick, Sprout, and Snape all assign Harry an essay.

Hermione will write it if Harry can give her the necessary book. Each essay requires a different book, and each book is in a different location (Snape's is in the library; Sprout's is being borrowed by Neville Longbottom in the Gryffindor boys' dormitory; Flitwick's is in the Great Hall). After that is done, three of the professors (everyone except McGonagall) will give Harry the chance to perform an O.W.L. exam. If Harry passes the exam with the highest marks (O for outstanding), he will succeed in his goal. If not, he can try again at any point later in the game.

Answer: During Dumbledore's fight with Voldemort

Harry is not the only person that a player can play as. The person can play as Dumbledore during his three-part fight with Voldemort. This fight includes using hexes against Voldemort and deflecting any spells Voldemort tries to cast on Dumbledore. After the fight, the player goes back to playing as Harry in an attempt to defeat Voldemort in the fight. Voldemort tries to use Occulmency on Harry but Harry resists. This is accomplished by moving Voldemort's wand back to the middle (e.g. if Voldemort moves his wand down, the player must hit the up arrow key until the attempt is blocked.)
Players can also play as Fred and George Weasley when the Weasley twins decide to light off fireworks as they leave Hogwarts.
Finally, the player can play as Sirius Black as he and Harry try to fight off Death Eaters in the Ministry of Magic (more specifically, the Department of Mysteries). However, their attempt to fight them off is always unsuccessful and Sirius Black always ends up dying.

Answer: Find out the headline on today's newspaper.

The portrait in the library will provide Harry with the password to his portrait only if he knows the headline on today's newspaper. To get the newspaper, Harry must go to the Great Hall, go to the lectern, and cast Wigardium Leviosa on it. An owl will deliver the newspaper which Harry needs to read. Then, Harry can return to the library and inform the portrait of the headline ("Tragic Demise of Ministry of Magic Worker"). In return, the portrait will tell Harry that the password is "No news is good news" and allow Harry to use the secret passage.
The three incorrect choices are the correct choices for other portraits.
Asking a Hufflepuff student for the password will allow Harry to use the secret passage that can be found on the first floor of the Grand Staircase.
Asking someone who was at Hogwarts fifty years ago will allow Harry to use the portrait on the third floor corridor. The someone in question is Moaning Myrtle who haunts one of the bathrooms.
Overhearing Slytherin students allows Harry to use the portrait which leads from the dungeon corridor to the dungeons itself.

Answer: Library

Upon returning to Hogwarts from the Ministry of Magic and Dumbledore explaining exactly what happened, Harry can visit Luna who is in the Entrance Hall. She informs Harry that her fellow students have hid five of her possessions (as so often happens) and she would appreciate it if Harry could find them for her.
Her five missing possession are her lion mask, cardigan, purse, shoes, and a newspaper. They can be found at library, Great Hall, entrance courtyard (leaves will need to be swept away first), clock tower courtyard, and the viaduct entrance respectively.

Answer: False

Like in the book and the movie, thestrals are present in the video game. Harry first meets them in the Forbidden Forest where Luna explains that thestrals are creatures that can only be seen by people who have seen death first-hand. Harry next encounters them when he helps Luna in her attempt to feed them.

When Harry succeeds with that, Luna agrees to join the DA lessons. Finally, they are seen when Harry, Hermione, Ron, Neville, Ginny, and Luna fly on them to get to the Ministry of Magic to stop Voldemort and his Death Eaters.
